  • In this tutorial video you can see step by step how to analyse a liquid sample with the Hitachi LAB-X5000.
    1. The safety window consists of two parts. The inner part has a smooth, bevelled edge. Place this part facing up on a clean flat surface.
    2. The outer part has an internal mark. Place this part with the internal mark facing up next to the other part
    3. Select the roll of film that has been specified for your application. Using a different film may provide incorrect results.
    4. Gently pull some film out of the box and tear a piece, holding the film at the edge to prevent contamination.
    5. Place the piece of film over the inner part of the safety window.
    6. Carefully slide the outer part of the safety window over the inner part, ensuring you do not touch the film.
    7. Use the safety window assembly tool to fully push the outer part in place.
    8. The film should be free of tears, contaminants, and wrinkles. Hold the prepared safety window on its outer part without squeezing it, to prevent the formation of wrinkles.
    9. Feel the o-ring. If it is too dry, grease it. Use a high vacuum grease.
    10. Place the sample cup inner with its 'lips' at the bottom into the preparation ring.
    11. Gently pull some film out of the box and place the film over the preparation ring.
    12. Carefully push the sample cup outer, with the o-ring facing up, over the sample cup inner, until it snaps into place. The film should be free of tears, contaminants, and wrinkles.
    13. Place the sample cup onto the sample tray. There is an internal mark in the Lab-X cup. This indicates the fill level you should use to get consistent results.
    14. Place the clean, empty cup on the sample tray.
    15. Pour the liquid into the sample cup, up to the internal mark. Use a sample cup lid to reduce evaporation and avoid spillage. The sample cup is now ready to me measured.
    16. Place the sample into the analysis port over the prepared safety window.
    17. Place the emptied sample cup onto a flat surface.
    18. Use the tool provided to press down on the cup. Loosen the cup inner, lid and film.
    19. Remove the used inner, lid and film. Dispose of them appropriately.
