Initially because he found the person that he imprinted on when they were born he will feel the need to protect them as a parent or brother would. The imprinting process happens to them due to genetics it has its basis on the best genetics for the survival of their wolf side. At least that’s how the writer found a way to explain how Jacob imprinted on Bella’s child.

With the imprinting, the relationship is 100% decided by the one being imprinted on, in case Renesmee. It's not as gross as people make it out to be, especially since she's still a baby presently.

With the imprinting, the relationship is 100% decided by the one being imprinted on, in case Renesmee. If all she wants from Jacob is that brother figure, then that is what he will be for her, even if that's what she wants from him for the rest of their lives. If she changes her mind about it when she is older and wants a more romantic relationship then that is what he will become. It's not as gross as people make it out to be, especially since she's still a baby presently.

Oh yall edited out the part on the Quileute beach where Jacob and company were having that conversation. The briefly showed a tribe member on the beach with a single digit year old child that he had also imprinted on (they alude to it in the book). I doubt highly even in the year this movie was made that they would be so free and public with such a controversial topic if it was proven to be some sick shit.

To be honest she could learn everything about the world on her own. Only thing her family can do is protect her. So as a kid Jacob will be her protector. In her late teen years Jacob will be her friend. And when she becomes a full vampier they’ll be something else. Fate will tell them which roles they need to be. And each time it’s they both are completely genuine about the roles they were given.
Also as long as Jacob keeps shifting into a wolf his human form will never age. So he can live as long as Renesme does. A lot of fans confused this relationship with grooming but it’s actually not. Because of the type of being she is she LITERALLY can’t be manipulated. And like I said each role is completely genuine. Jacob’s not attracted to her when she’s a kid and he’s not gonna raise her either. When fate guides him to be a protector he genuinely feels like a protector. When fate guides them to be friends they’re genuinely going to be friends. And when fate guides them to be something else they really be in love. They know they end up together but they don’t focus on that. They just focus on what they need to do currently. The wolves only shapeshifte when vampires are near. As long as they keep transforming into wolves they won’t age. So because of all of this jake up will live on forever with Renesme
