    EDITOR'S NOTE: Apparently, a recent Firmware Update has changed the way compatibility mode works in the CSL Elite PS4, so now titles like DriveClub and F1 2016 DO WORK!!!
    3:55 and 4:20 - I meant to say mm, NOT cm! Sorry for that mistake! That's what I get for recording a voiceover at 1 AM 😂

      Having tried both I think the Fanatec is the better option period. Even if I was mainly focused on GT Sport because I feel the LC brake more than makes up for the difference in FFB. Personally I did not miss the tactile feedback of the T-GT but I was initially disappointed by the FFB in GT Sport on the CSL Elite. However being able to tune the FFB on the wheel made a big difference to the end result and the FFB is still very good but without the tactile feedback it does feel a little bland compared to good PC FFB. That said the FFB in PC2 is the real disappointment on the CSL Elite and IMO the T-GT feels better. It is no fault of Fanatec and comes down to the developers implementation of the wheels. Again I wouldn't give up the Load Cell Brake and that more than makes up for the difference in feel. The T-GT was extremely disappointing to me outside of GT Sport due to the rotary dials and associated buttons not being functional. My T-GT also has a very gritty feeling when turning and the CSL Elite is much smoother and a better feeling wheel as a result but the T-GT did have a more direct feeling to the FFB. The pedals are the real winner. The CSL Elite pedals with Load Cell brake are a fantastic value and are simply a great pedal set. They make the CSL Elite package a winner on PS4. I love them. Of course on PC they can be combined with any wheel and with additional hardware that is also possible on the PS4 but not with the same level of functionality. The pedals are a real let down on the T-GT especially on GT Sport due to it's too sensitive brake implementation. Being able to adjust the brake sensitivity on the Fanatec package is a godsend. All that said, FFB on a console using a official wheel is a disappointing experience when compared to PC FFB at this time unfortunately. While I had high hopes for the tactile FFB in GT Sport it still does not compete with the good sims on PC and compatibility and implementation in games on the PS4 at this time leaves a bit to be desired. Ultimately the PS4 CSL Elite is still the best package IMO on the PS4 but it is better on PC and on PC the T-GT is also a really good option especially with the extra functionality of those dials and extra buttons but it isn't at good value at that price with those pedals and the size of the rim was a bad decision by Polyphony Digital.

    I've had 2 T300 wheels along with T3PA AND T3PA-PRO pedals. Really like the wheels and pedals. It's all you really need for PS4. But hey when I'm ready to upgrade my kit I'm going CSL Elite with the Elite LC pedals. The larger rim, better FFB, and load cell...thats what you call an upgrade.
    Great review as usual William.

    Gotta be the CSL Elite, having the load cell pedals makes it a no-brainer for me. Definitely made me more consistent in my braking which in turn led me to be able to push harder and drive my lap-times down because of the confidence it gives you in being able to hit your marks that much more consistently. Almost seems an unfair advantage to me on console haha

    DriveClub, F1 2016 and WRC 6 are working with the purple compatibility mode (after they changed it to emulate a G29 instead of the CSW V2) so every ps4 simracing title actually is compatible.

    I'm looking at the Fanatec but I'm concerned about reliability especially with the belt slipping as I've had nothing but problems with the older Fanatec models what do you think about the new stuff from Fanatec from a reliability standpoint ?

  • @alitomrsgamingchannel2116
    @alitomrsgamingchannel2116 6 лет назад +1

    Very nice comparison. I am a CSL ELITE PS4 with Loadcell pedals upgrade owner, and I agree with your remarks about the wheel being very good in the PS4 and absolutely fantastic on the PC. I have only played gran turismo sport on PS4 and it is OK, but the FFB and details are dull when compared to what you get on asseto corsa or even better, Project Cars 2.
    We are still waiting for full compatibility on GT Sport, to properly and fairly judge it’s FFB, because on purple mode it is simply way behind than the FFB you get in PC sims.

    I wouldn't call the t-gt, competitively priced. At its price point, it's in competition with the Clubsport V2.5, not the CSL Elite. Hell, for a bit more, you're in DD wheel territory.

    • @SIMRIG412
      @SIMRIG412 4 года назад

    • @CAFFIENEHOUND
      @CAFFIENEHOUND 4 года назад

      The T-GT includes pedals and some way to control transmission; where at $1500 the Fanatec DD1 is just the wheel base. Another $100+ on a wheel rim, $100 for shifter, $300+ for pedals and you're probably over $2,000 to get the "full package" of the T-GT.
      I wouldn't choose to spend 800 USD on a T-GT personally, but it's less than half what a DD setup costs

  • @gman6862
    @gman6862 6 лет назад +1

    I like the t-GT. Pedals not so much. Now running with CSL Elites + LC kit. Also had a loadcell mod for the t3pa. That does make them on par with the csl pedals in game use. But really like the csl pedals... they are way more quiet then the plastic sounds the Tm pedals produce.

  • @bigfella6629
    @bigfella6629 4 года назад

    In Australia the Fanatec SCL Elite PS4 sells for around $800 to $900 without pedals and about $200 extra for the two pedal set or $450 for the three pedal set, and as far as I know Fanatec products can only be bought from two places in Australia. The Thrustmaster T-GT can be bought in quite a few places and sells for $1499 with pedals. Now for the wheels, the Fanatec wheels range from anywhere from $500 to $1000, very pricey and to be honest I think that is just ridiculous. Thrustmaster wheels are around $300 to $450 which I think is still quite up there in price but a lot cheaper than Fanatec.

  • @Psychos1s
    @Psychos1s 4 года назад

    A note for 2019-Thrustmaster was wise to lower the price of the T-GT. Its selling for $579.99 on Amazon. The Fanatec equivalent is no where to be found on Amazon (used for $879). The Fanatec website doesn't even have a bundle of the CSL Elite with the CSL Elite wheel. There is a CSL Elite F1 set for $699.95 and the set this video closely resembles the Xbox One Competition Pack for $799.99. Fanatec is definitely at the top but is more expensive and convoluted to get a bundle package out of the box. You basically have to piecemeal it and buy the base $349.95, Wheel $169.95, Pedals $99.95 at $619.85. Then if you want to add the third pedal at $129.95.

    The T-GT IS NOT priced competitively. Its priced very high. I don't like FANATEC wheels because I've had too many of them go bad on me but I would buy the CSL wheel any day before I would buy the T-GT.

    • @alitomrsgamingchannel2116
      @alitomrsgamingchannel2116 6 лет назад +1

      Steve 30x I think simracing brands need to manage expectations better. They do have quality issues, but I think they really have to come clean and talk about the life expectancy of these wheels, the design specs, because a lot of people are complaining about belt driven wheels going bad after a year or two, and in all honesty, I don’t think such a lightweight, mechanical equipment is designed or expected to last for more than a couple years, with variance setting in and some getting broken before.
      I have had my CSL Elite ps4 since launch, and i can tell you that equipment sure takes a beating. I must have used it for about 400 hours, and I honestly don’t know for how many more they were designed for, but at this pace I would be extremely surprised if some things don’t fail in a couple years.
      Maybe I am wrong. I am not a mechanical
      Engineer, but a civil engineer, and my knowledge of material mechanics and overall mechanics suggests me I shouldn’t be expecting more than what Insaid.

      alitomr's gaming channel I bought a Fanatec GT3 RS Wheel five years ago. The wheel failed within nine weeks , It took Fanatec support ten days to reply to me and anoither twoi weeks almost going to and forth with them to replae the wheel , They replaced that wheel and six weeks later the power supply for the replacement wheel failed, they then sent me a used power supply. Three months later the replacement wheel failed so I was fedup of the failures and sold the second replacement wheel. I have a Standard CSR here and the right paddle shifter is gone mushy and doesn't work anymore and the wheel is gone stiff and slow after two and a half years. This is why I no longer trust Fanatec Wheels.
      The Pedals are a different story though. I have CSR Elite Pedals with four years and its only recently the brake pedal is starting to give up. I think it needs a new load cell because the brake pedal in all games think I have the brake pedal slightly pressed even though my foot isn't touching the pedal. I wouldn't have to think twice again to buy Fanatec PEdals. I love my pedal set and might get the CSL Elite pedals.

    • @alitomrsgamingchannel2116
      @alitomrsgamingchannel2116 6 лет назад +1

      Steve 30x that is my point, you’ve had one wheel for 5 years and it failed. I think it went beyond the designed life expectancy. The other equipment obviously had issues and died too soon, almost for sure were defective out of the factory.

      alitomr's gaming channel You didn't even read all of what I said. I mean, you 1st have to figure out where you're going to race mostly 🤔? The no brainier to me is the CSL elete all day long now for what I want to do beyond PS4 GT. So if you do want to venture off to IRacing, Corsa, RaceRoom so-to-say you'll be set. I'm just now getting back into the video/sim racing again, building my setup now. This time around I'm going to go with the CSL setup. Thanks for your review, most helpful bud 👍 thanks.

For me the option to update to load cell pedals in the future is really exiting but still not sure if the extra money for T-GT or CSL elite are such a big step-up from T300 especially where the pedals for t300 and T-GT are basically the same. I play GT Sport and AC equally. Considering that T-GT and CSL elite are not roughly the same price (without the LC) what will be your advise?

    In Canada the cost for the fanatec is 1352 $ CAD (included price and shipping) for the 2.5 base, bmw wheel and v3 pedals. Here in Quebec we have 2 taxes. 202.80$ of taxes. A total of 1554.80$ CAD. I'm happy with my Thrustmaster ts-pc wheel. total cost 747.48$

    • @danmc_2783

      He's not talking about the V2.5, it's the CSL Elite PS4 which, with it's load cell pedals and cheaper price is much better value than any of the new Thrustmaster wheels IMO and can be used on ALL platforms with all it's peripherals being plug-and-play direct into the base

    • @danmc_2783
      @danmc_2783 6 лет назад +1

      Again, the CSL isn't the CSW, CSL is cheaper than the TS-GT that he is talking about. TS-PC is PC only and comes without any pedals, which does give you the option to buy Fanatec (or other) load-cell pedals and connect them separately via USB on PC (which i feel you'd be silly not to do in that instance as the TM pedals, while functional, are light years behind the Fanatecs) but again, this isn't what William is talking about in the video. William is talking about wheels that are PS4 compatible and in that instance, with the load cell pedals and compatibility across ALL platforms the CSL Elite PS4 is clearly IMO much better value unless you are going to restrict yourself to a single game on a single platform

    I own the csl elite + the load cell and i would never let it for a tg-t and those gadget option such as the transducer. Good pedals make you more confident and consistent. I spend most of my time on gt sport but i also other titles and pc games. The problem is the t-gt is overpriced so somehow there is no competiton.

    • @Simracingpaddock
      @Simracingpaddock  5 лет назад +3

      The Tactile Transducer on the T-GT is great for adding immersion, but I feel like the Fanatec is the better all-around product.
      If you ONLY play GT Sport (and aren't planning on jumping to PC racing in the future), I'd say the T-GT is a great option especially since you can find it for a far lower price now (at the time of this comment, it's at around $530 on Amazon).
      Basically the only real major downside of this vs the CSL is the pedals. The CSL Elite pedals are MUCH better than the Thrustmaster pedals, and you have the option to add a load cell brake in the future. Downside of CSL pedals from that bundle: You don't get the third pedal out of the box.
      If you're considering going to PC, or want a better upgrade path, I'd recommend the CSL.
      Hope this is of help to you! Let me know if you have any more questions

    Csl elite all day long! Thrustmaster are over priced and cheaply made with poor quality materials for the base. Fanatec all day long.

    The CSL entirely made of plastic. The base mounting is not reliable. It plays up/down significantly. The FFB is sluggish. The T-GT and TS-PC/XW are much better than CSL.

      You've never used one then, the base is solid if installed properly and the ffb is excellent too, the TG-T isn't as future proof and limited - fact.
