it breaks my heart that tommy and his band have not gotten the recognition for their amazing music. Especially Humanistic and this album. The melodies, the hooks, vocals, guitars, instrumentation altogether, are all too good to be this largely unknown.
I think it explores themes of self-reflection, regret, and the desire for reconciliation in the face of uncertainty and potential separation. The opening lines, "I'm not washed up / And you're not back luck / For anyone," suggest a plea for understanding and a rejection of negative labels. The speaker acknowledges past difficulties but asserts that their story is not over yet. Throughout the song, there's a sense of longing and introspection as the speaker questions what it would take to salvage the relationship: "If I was all that I could be / Would you then love me / Despite the history / Stupid things, I know the shame." This reflects a desire for acceptance and forgiveness despite past mistakes. The repeated refrain of "If this is the end of us / I'll sing you this goodbye song / But if you're a lonely girl / You might as well come on home" conveys a sense of resignation mixed with hope. It suggests that while the speaker is prepared to say goodbye, they still hold out hope for reconciliation and encourage their partner to return. The closing lines, "I'm busting at the seams / To tell you everything / And it's scaring me / Cause nothing's sure / And nothing makes sense anymore," encapsulate the uncertainty and vulnerability of the situation. Despite the fear and confusion, there's a desire to communicate openly and honestly, even if the outcome is uncertain. Overall, it delves into the complexities of relationships, including the struggle for self-acceptance, the yearning for forgiveness, and the hope for a second chance. It captures the emotional turmoil of navigating love and loss, ultimately expressing a mix of resignation, longing, and tentative optimism.
I think the lyrics are written by the subconscious of a man who is in a mentally abusive/emasculating relationship. By the end of the song he is rendered speechless and confused.
I FOUND IT! years of searching for this song from my teen years. no memory of band name or title... just the letter A and that I listened to it at the same time I listened to Acceptance. This is a glorious moment!

If Clone High ever gets a proper series finale, this better be the ending song
my exact thoughts
AS IT SHOULD!!
This did not age well at all.
They had one more chance to give this show a proper conclusion and they still messed it up 😭 better wait 2 more decades
@@Idamensional imagine if Phil lord and Chris miller decided to make a clone high movie as a way to end the series, how cool would that be.
