@@eb4305it doesn't look like this one can be functional though, since it's so thin. A lot of skill and attention to detail to make yes, but I feel like this one would shatter if ever dropped.
Amazing work and incredible craftsmanship. I like the piece very much. Thanks for sharing your work with us. I would like to see more videos. Regards from Germany by Egbert
Really beautiful turning! I have two suggestions, though. If your interior turning tool rest were hollow you could introduce controllable air flow through it to minimize dust build up. Probably need a very low flow rate to reduce visual chaos. And, light your finished product from the inside to show it's wall thickness and translucency. Very cool video, Thanks!
Wow. That is outstanding. Very impressive hollowing-out work. The surface finishing with blast media was completely unexpected and fascinating to see the end result. Is this with soda media?
Very nice work! I can honestly day I've never seen that technique. Excellent choice of music. Mark Knopfler is one of my favorites!. Was that sand or soda blasting?
Well, not a diabolo in my book.... I did do some juggling, but a nice hollow form. If I was going to make one that I could actually play with, it would have to be end grain. Nice piece of ash though.
I know it’s not a diabolo. I make « diabolo like » shapes, but I call them « let the sunshine in »😂. I don’t even remember why I chose this name for these forms many years ago
Supposedly the name had two possible origins. One was from a Greek term that means 'to toss across', and the other was supposedly from Marco Polo who bought them back from China, and the first time he saw them, he said 'how the devil do you do that?'. I do tend to take things literally....
In its balanced hourglass form it is used in the circus, spun between a string with two sticks (wands) at each end, but in this video it is in the abstract. ⌛
@NeilSoulo asked what this is/what it's used for, but for whatever reason RUclips is refusing to post my Reply to that question. In addition to a beautiful shape in its own right, a diabolo is a juggling prop that is twirled on a string something like a yo-yo, often making a sound. Ultimate origin is China. You can search for the term "diabolo."
Nicely done. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
The music was fantastic but the wood turning was exquisite
Unbelievable. Nerves of steel! How easily that whole process could have gone wrong. Fabulous art.
That’s where all the fun is 😁
Suddenly I want a bowl of Rice Chex! That is beautiful work. Also, add me to the list of people who love the song. 👍
Wish I could give more than one thumbs up. Well done
That was astounding. Just another turning, but then it became skeletal and I am amazed.
Wow Sir! Amazing work. I wasn't ready for that last step of sand blasting and pick work.
This is the closest to insanity I’ve ever seen! Your dreams must be piercing! Beautiful! Beautiful!
Amazing project! Thanks for sharing this.
I am blown away. I have never seen anything like that, and I’m in awe. Beautiful work.
Wow, just wow. Amazing work! I'd love to see what it looks like lit up from the inside out.
That was insane. I had no idea where you were going until we got there!
I feel dumb after watching the whole video... what is a diabolo?
?
Diabolo is a yoyo but the rope is not attached to it, to perform tricks they use separete rope attached to two stics instead
I had the same question, thanks for asking as it helped me learn 😁
Something that takes a lot of skill to make by the looks of it

Wow, that’s pretty cool. It’s been awhile since I saw something that made me want to turn wood again. Well done!

That is both very creative and impressive.
Beautiful and perfectly intricate.
that’s so stunning, how does it not break while it gets so thin?
It’s actually pretty solid due to the crossed structure
wow. that was amazing.
Now that is super cool. I've never seen that before.
This project olmost same was i my mind to make it soon. So you are the first and you catched up.Graz your work is exelent!!!
Thank you so much for sharing - I'd been wondering for a while how you did these. Beautiful work
Beautiful!
amazing work,
Very impressive!
Wow, incredible.
Bravo! You're a master.
Du grand art....😉
Wow. That is outstanding. Very impressive hollowing-out work. The surface finishing with blast media was completely unexpected and fascinating to see the end result. Is this with soda media?
Thank you. It’s blasted with carborundum
That would make an epic lamp shade

Thanks Brad. I use carborundum
That is Awesome My Friend!

De toutes beauté !
Top Job,Sir 👌
Ah toda madre. Gracias.
Amazing
Is there a technical reason you didn’t go along with the grain or is it purely for aesthetics?
Yes I turn cross-grain for aesthetic reasons
@@PascalOudet it definitely turned out fantastic!!
😲 Wow!
Masterful!
Magnifique 🤩
Superbe vidéo et travail ! Bravo !
Whouaaw ! ❤
That is a skillful and beautiful piece thanks and what was the music I really liked it
The music is Mark Knopfler (border reiver). It happens that a lot of his or Dire Straits’ music are really good for my videos. And I like them
Priceless
Wow!
Wow!!
Neat, but what is a Diablo?
It’s just the name I gave to these shapes
Wonderful.
Oh! I was hoping you were going to pop it on a string and spin it!
Great, now i know how to build one, just have to figure out what it is.
WOWZA
Merci

Excellent.
Brilliant.
Sweet! Do you ever fume your creations with ammonia to create a darker color?
Yes it happens, sometimes also to emphasise the heartwood/sapwood contrast
👍💓!!
It’s been 2 years, how has that piece held up? Did it crack from the pith much? Deform? Just curious
None of these problems. It’s so thin it has no tension causing cracks.
magnifique !
Merci
How much price this?
This one is sold. I have some smaller models on my website in the online shop
Oookaaay...
💯

👍
👍👍
What kind if wood is it?
Oak

All of the comments here are secretly sarcastic, but don't tell OP. It would be devastating.
🤯💌
thats not a diabolo
Allow me to name my pieces the way I want ;-)
It was not meant to be a juggling diabolo
How many of you came here just to know what a diabolo is and did learned nothing ? It's probably good for losing your life time like the internet.
Shut up……. If you need micro googles for woodwork……… it’s better…….. too much………. But better
