For context, after the success of The Slim Shady LP Eminem was a lightning rod for controversy. He was criticized by Conservatives for vulgarity, entertainment media for dissing celebrities, feminists for being misogynist, LGBTQ activists for being homophobic, the rap community for being white, and got sued by his mother.
He followed up with the Marshal Mathers LP. There was big anticipation since The Real Slim Shady single was release a month prior. Kill You was the first song on the record and was basically a double middle finger to all his critics.

    There's....
    Eminem
    Marshall Mathers
    And
    Slim Shady
Each and every one of his songs is from one of his aliases. If you know, you know 👌🏻
I've been on this journey since The Slim Shady LP (1999) been lucky enough to see him twice live, which is pretty lucky I'd say, as I live in Europe.
    Em, love you man 🙌🏻

When he talks about the radio shows inviting him on to argue with them cause their ratings stink... You should watch his 1999 Howard Stern interview. He also refers to this interview subliminally in "The Way I am" when he says "keep askin the same fuckin' questions, what school did I go to , what hood i grew up in"

Yeah, Howard was being mad disrespectful that interview. Eminem damn near looked like he was bout to cry.

Real talk. I’m 53 yrs old now. And I can tell you this is my fav Em song. Bruh. Most of what he’s saying about “whores and bitches” is about rappers that came at him for being white rapper. Bet you can’t any other rappers that even came close to saying this shit

Nothing better than going back to some old Eminem, then switch it to to late 2000's Eminem, all the way to his new stuff. Kill You, Criminal, Marshall Mathers, Kim, The Way I Am, The Real Slim Shady, all great songs from the MMLP. One of the best rap albums ever made!
