Met Frank Sinnott, Declan's now departed brother on Wexford's Main Street a few years ago and he asked me what was my favourite piece of Declan's guitar playing. I thought for a moment and said No time for love. He roared out with joy! It was Frank's favourite too. RIP Frank. He was very proud of Declan.
Be jaysis Irish musicians at their wonderful best we have this no, one can take away our incredible tradition for producing music like this MMMMM Goosebumps
Incredible, FABULOUS song. And ... my favourite guitar chord of all time? Bar NONE?! Right near the beginning, after the intro, Declan's "power chord", immediately after Christy starts singing "You call it the law ...". Does things to my blood, that chord!
This song is just pure genius Thank you Moving Hearts, at least some people south of border felt our pain and suffering and were prepared to hammer out this song!!!!
The Hearts were (and still are) magic, as well as being men of principle; sure enough they "moved hearts" and so played some role in the peace process that finally came about.
This song is excellent, marvelously played, performed & recorded -- but by the finale when all the cylinders are banging it's just absolutely glorious. This is almost country music blended brilliantly with jazz instruments. These musicians are all exceptional. I still get chills down my spine when these people play. Many average listeners of music never heard of this song or band -- but this is a true classic. The arrangement -- whoever sat down and figured it out -- is perfect. Desert Island Disc? I would need this song alone for sure.
That would give credence to the scientific evidence that racism decreases brain function. Do they sing the Sacco and Vanzetti or Newton and Seal lines? Do they know who the were?

EIRHEAD1, what an utterly beautiful story! See my comment above about "that chord" ... but his whole playing on that song is sublime!
This is one of these songs that gets sweeter as you progress. It sails beautifully along. You don't want to leave the ship in the end.

Seen them live many times in early 80's, amazing, sweaty buck leppin gigs! Could do with them outside the Whitehouse right now!

He bas now become an open borders commie. He sold Ireland
So glad that I got to see these guys live in Dublin back in the day
A great protesting guitar, the interaction of the pipes and sax and of course Christy with the lyrics. Sean Sexton.

Brilliant song Fair play to Christy Moore wasn’t afraid to show support for the people in the North of our country.
Timeless classic. One of a few...
Would be nice if Jack Warshaw was mentioned in the song credit, he did write the song
I believe his name is listed on the album, but If I'm mistaken, please correct me...
