    There's a special type of polymer granules you can put in the pond to fix the leaks. It'll actually get sucked into the cracks and expand. BamaBass used it to fix the leaks in their clay blanket, as well. I'm sure if you contact them they'll gladly share what they used exactly, and where to get it.

      Not sure which type of polymer BamaBass used but some of the polymers require two different applications. My brother and I had luck with a product called Damit (aka Shalex) which was single application.

    Hey Jon, love your videos. There is a channel called Bama bass and he did a 5 acre pond build. He had a leak and put this stuff in the water that sealed it. Definitely worth giving his channel a glance just for the amount of information he has on the process of the pond builds!

      I'd even go as far as saying let the bass get bigger as well before adding crappie... crappie can f*ck up a good bass pond.

      A study on crappies by a Mississippi university stated that crappie in ponds under two acres can disrupt the food chain for bass and bluegill. They observed crappie spawning first before any other species. Second, crappies take food from all other fishes at different growth stages.

    Get a hold of Bama Bass and ask him what he used to fix his leak. It's a polymer that you just pour in and it turns into a gel that will plug the leaks.

    Little tip/idea, for your water level ruler, you can tie on anything that floats to it so you have a more obvious check on water level. Just a bobber with a line connected around the ruler works perfect. Just make sure to have a top that it can't go past in case it flows over! Love the pond vids Jon, always a pleasure!

    Hi Jon, so I’m from South Africa and we stocked some dams with tilapia in our area that used to have leaks as well and we found out that the manure from the tilapia helps to seal the dam due to it being so fine. But we stocked almost 200 tilapia in a dam the same size as yours but we left them for almost an entire year

    When your pond is still full you can still make it bigger and deeper that way when the Sumer heat comes by they have some place to go when it get to hot. The bigger/deeper the better that way you can have more and add more fish. Air curation and aeration is also key.

    If you want to drain your pond don’t get a liner. Buy a couple of big pigs and they will stomp down the dirt and compact it closing all the leaks. My uncles pond had the problem and that’s what fixed it

    Beninite is definitely the way to go, I have a 1acre pond myself and very sandy soil around here, we used sodium beninite and blue clay to get it to hold water

    Put a couple of carp inside they are bottom sucker fish and when they feel like pond is leaking they fill in holes themselves to save their lives sounds funky but worked with me!!

    You should buy some Camelot Bell bass, they are located in Texas and are the fastest and largest growing bass ever. They are all offspring from 13+ lbs bass

    You could always have a shallow well put in that pumps water into the pond when it gets below a certain point. That's my plan and we are near Emory, TX not 2 hours from the Googan HQ.

    We were lucky when we dug our pond. A lot of NE Ohio is clay, and that's exactly what we ran into. Holds all the water without a liner.

    He did a lot of work on the pond in the subdivision where his grandparents live and where he used to fish as a little kid.

    I’m order to build a productive echo system you must start from the bottom up. Sure you could combine some of the steps to speed up the process but here’s one thing for sure, before you add any sort of bass, you need to establish bait. And that takes longer than a week. My advice would be, wait the year, let the bait do its thing, breed etc. then next year place your order for the tiger bass.

    You can get F1 bass online as well so ur not full out of luck so u do have another option and heard they make it thru shipping pretty well and I think about 40lb-50lbs of shiners would be perfect.

    Hey John B, I love your content and have been watching you for years, but was curious if you would do a video in Hot Springs, Arkansas, at Lake Quachita. I think you would have one heck of a time here and the fishing is crazy and like no other state in the US.
    Bass, Striper, Catfish, Small Mouth you name it and we got it in our lake 👍, we also have Lake Hamilton, Lake Catherine, and not including the fishing in the rivers here, we got the Caddo river, the Buffalo river, and so many more. Hope to see you make some content here maybe soon🎉🎉🎉

    Aye put a metal fence around the pond to keep all the garbage and tumble weeds out so you have to clean the fence line and not the pond

    U need to take them a soil sample to see what type of sodium bentanight to use and have them come out and they tell u how much to use and u need big pellets for it to work better u don't need to worry about how much water goes u already did what u need to do find the leak they do the rest after but take them soil sample and they will do the rest mr.       Surface agitation helps and he lives in a very windy area so that helps a ton. If it was stagnant sitting water it would have surface algae

    Just a heads up if the water in your pond doesn’t get below 50F in the winter the tilapia will survive year round. Probably not going to be an issue but didn’t see any comments on this yet

    No crappie! Blue gill only, especially in a small pond. People have to drain their ponds due to crappie issues.
