Thank you very clear instruction for beginners, you take the time to explain n enlarge the chains for us beginners to see clearly. Thank you For your tutorial
THANK YOU! I have taught myself to crochet thanks to your videos! This is the 3rd scarf I've made and I love it. My N hook is 10mm, so I didn't get to do that last round of dc before I ran out of yarn, but I still love it. I'm working on scarves to donate for the hat and mitten tree at church this Christmas. Will get a 9mm hook and try again. Thanks!
I made a practice one so that I could see how well I liked it. I made mine a little larger than the one demonstrated, but it still worked out nicely. I'm waiting on my yarn I've ordered so that I can begin making them and hats for family and friends in time for the holidays. I love crocheting. It just frees my mind!
I'm making this now and it's beautiful, it's for my daughters teacher, thank you for sharing, is there a matching hat or fingerless gloves that you have to go with this?
Can't remember how I found you but so glad I did. You are an excellent teacher. Working on this now. Some things still over my head as I am very much the novice but you're definitely my go to!.
Easy to make, great for beginners! Surprisingly enough, the metallic filament is not scratchy at all. Yarn is expensive so wait till Michaels has a sale. Got mine at $4 CAD per skein instead of $8. Makes a pretty Christmas gift.
wanted to thank you for your videos! they are so clear and it is always fun learning with such good quality videos and clear background! I think I have made lots of your scarves since last winter and I wanted to thank you for sharing your creations!!!
Oh, this is great! Even though I do not like cowls. They just don't flatter me... But every now and then one catches my eye and I am tempted to hook it! I can't afford enough yarn to make tons of projects, and I'm limited physically and cognitively so I tire very fast. Everything I make takes forever.. I run out of yarn, or energy and have to wait on funds to buy more yarn, and for pain, confusion and exhaustion to abate before crocheting some more on the same project . So I have to be sure that I choose projects wisely. For this beauty I am envisioning the yarns that have several types of yarn all in the same ball! Red Heart Boutique has a couple.. Changes and Magical I think... Exquisite on just the right project! There is a lovely scarf on FiberFlux that change as you go, also in greys.. Like metallic, thin fur, chained, plain worsted.. I made it for my fashionista Daughter for Christmas and she loved it! I'm going to go share that pattern now. This is going 2B another Fiber Flux favorite I bet! 👍👍
I just found your channel and so happy that I did. I love how you patiently and clearing explain each step. I'm still very new to crocheting and your videos are most helpful. Thank you!
I agree about the voice. Not all are easy to listen too...unfortunately. Haha which is exactly why I do not have a channel. Think Paula Deen but not a soft sweet lol😆
I made this with that Carnegie Hill yarn. It was hard to crochet with but turned out so beautiful! My cowl only came out to 6 inches high though but still gorgeous and drapery. And it only took half a skein which tells me I missed a row maybe? Lol. Still pretty
I love this!!! I am able to follow you so easily and I am very thankful. I have finished my skein and don't have enough to join the 4th row. I am at 7 inches on the tallest part. do I go to a smaller needle or crochet tighter?
Hi it's Katie from the uk I love your tutorials especially this one, would like to know how and where I can get the yarn you used in this tutorial please. Thanks xx
I used the Lion Brand Hometown yarn for my cowl. I got to the end and it was not enough yarn. So frustrating. I watched the video again and noticed that the original yarn was 99 yards long. The Hometown skein is only 64 yards, so it is not long enough to finish the project. Lesson learned. I have a skein of Wool-Ease that is 106 yards that I am going to use. Hope this helps someone else.
Your videos are great! I have a question on this one though. When I try to do the double treble crochet stitch at the very top of the stitch I keep getting a little extra bulk in the yarn that causes a little extra loop. Even if I try to tighten the yarn as I do each pull I still get it. Any suggestions on how to avoid that?
Shanique Brown Great question! I used just one skein of the yarn, I had a very tiny amount left (about 12 inches or so), not enough to complete another round, so it ended up being 8 inches tall. I hope that helps!
Can we use 4 ply or DK yarn for this cowl? Would that effect the look of it? I have never worked with chunky yarns, and right now I want to make a cowl for my 6 years old but I want to use scheepjes our tribe. I just wanna know would it be okay to use thinner yarn for this or any other cowl, or cowl are just meant to be made with thick yarns? Thanks in advance
Very new to crocheting and really like your method of teaching here. Good thick yarn, nice and slow, very through. Question, do you have a video on a 'twisted' cowl. I've seen others, but they lose me when they turn, so, wondering if you have one? PS How much yarn does this one take again? Thx, Keressa
This is one of my favorite patterns and I love the way you teach you speak very well and I can understand I will follow you you are one of the best I can't wait to start your next project
I was wondering about this. I added 12 ch's just so it didnt smoother but I assume it was meant to just kinda stack instead of drape down. I think you would need about 110ch to do the effect you desire.
I just found your tutorial over the weekend. So I bought the Mizrahi yarn to create this cowl and it looks nothing like yours. I've tried twice. Having a lot of trouble stitching it because of the texture. Your tutorial is fine but the Mizrahi yarn is a pain to crochet!
I just made this.... as a beginner of 6 months it's the first garment I've made and I love it, thank you do much for the pattern and easy tutorial

I enjoy all your tutorials. You are knowledgeable and your voice is soothing LOL Right now, I am granny square crazy!
I agree about the voice. Not all are easy to listen too...unfortunately. Haha which is exactly why I do not have a channel. Think Paula Deen but not a soft sweet lol😆
Just found you and subscribed. Super easy pattern started this morning using 2balls of a thinner yarn held together and I'm almost done . 😍
Your videos are great! I really enjoy using them. They are so helpful!
Love your tutorials! Making one in purple. Nice easy and quick pattern.

Maschelle Mashburn I had lots of fun with this yarn!
I definitely enjoyed watching this video. I cannot wait to get more yarn and do this pattern. Thank you so much for this tutorial. 😄
I love your video fast and easy I made one and will be making lots more...thank you so much.
The dtr looks just as easy as the tr. I thought it was going to be complicated. New stitch learned! :-)
Trish B Yay you!!
Hi im making one now, I love yr tutorals so easy to follow and so pretty thank you 😊

Thank you for sharing. I will be trying this project.
Just beautiful.Thank you.
Fyi. I needed 2 skeins of yarn (lionbrand hometown USA) TO make my cowl the width the same as yours.
Beautiful yarn. Love the pattern. Thank you for sharing.
I love this!!! I am able to follow you so easily and I am very thankful. I have finished my skein and don't have enough to join the 4th row. I am at 7 inches on the tallest part. do I go to a smaller needle or crochet tighter?
Great video...I will be starting tonight
I love the hook your using where could I get one. Love your channel thank you
I believe its knitpicks radiant wood crochet hook. I could be wrong though lol.

Ouch! Yes that was a lesson I'll try and remember myself as well. So sorry. I know you wanted to cry. Bulky ain't cheap.
I used the triple crochet instead of double treble.
love your work thanks hugs from Nice Fr
i had a quick question how many skeins of yarn did you use of the isaac mizrahi yarn to create that cowl?
Shanique Brown Great question! I used just one skein of the yarn, I had a very tiny amount left (about 12 inches or so), not enough to complete another round, so it ended up being 8 inches tall. I hope that helps!
Hello fiber flux yes that helped out knowing that. I like that yarn and I've seen it at Michaels, but it never goes on sale, lol.
Thank you
Shanique Brown I found the yarn at AC Moore and it was a bulk package with 7 skeins 😀 hope this helps
With the 48 chain this should fit over head? Seems kinda small. I am petite & doesn't fit over my head. Beginning 3rd row
Either go up to a larger hook size or, add more chains. Before you start put the chain around your neck. Hope that helps
To make bulky yarn just double the yarn and use a larger hook like an M or an N hook. Hope that helps.
Was the 34 inch circumference to wrap around twice?
It Definitely takes more than 1 skein to complete.
Great tutorial. Thank you!
can i make this cowl in medium yarn not thick like u did, and can i make scarf not cowl??? please help me
Making this one now.
Very new to crocheting and really like your method of teaching here. Good thick yarn, nice and slow, very through. Question, do you have a video on a 'twisted' cowl. This is one of my favorite patterns and I love the way you teach you speak very well and I can understand I will follow you you are one of the best I can't wait to start your next project
I completed this with 48 chains, it came out neck length, didn't hang to chest...I had to undo my whole cowl--I even used same size hook. 🤔
I was wondering about this. I added 12 ch's just so it didnt smoother but I assume it was meant to just kinda stack instead of drape down. I think you would need about 110ch to do the effect you desire.
Yes. This one is more closer to the neck. Add more chains. Try chaining 80. Try it on before you start
I ♥️ 🧶 crochet
I ♥️ your working and your channel 🙏🏼😘
Awesome! ❤👍
Why is it called a double-treble and not a quadruple crochet?
💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
I just found your tutorial over the weekend. So I bought the Mizrahi yarn to create this cowl and it looks nothing like yours. I've tried twice. Having a lot of trouble stitching it because of the texture. Your tutorial is fine but the Mizrahi yarn is a pain to crochet!
