Our trim round the side hatches is only about 7mm thick, so 30mm thick oak sounds very impressive. It does lie inside the thin steel framing and protrudes about 2mm towards the outside wall from the framing. Have you got the narrowboat builders book ?
I know that Guernsey Seacat ferry too well, it nearly rammed me one morning in fog off the north coast of the island. Your hotel looked to be in a prime spot with views out to Herm and Sark. I could have loaned my track saw but I guess the requirement has passed and anyhow you have moved westwards from Red Cliff marina.
