  • Defensive Driving: Pedestrians - Part 3. In this video: Distances. Do we need to wait until pedestrians reach the sidewalk to start turning? That’s what I discuss here, safe distances when turning right and left, plus distances from the sides and in front.

    Thank you sir, i passed my road test on the 3rd attempt because of two things: my husband's patience of coaching and "yelling"(lol)at me almost everyday and by watching all your videos . I failed on my first attempt, because i drove too slow and lacked confidence. On my 2nd failed attempt, i didn't react accordingly to hazards.....on my 3rd attempt, i swallowed all my anxiety, showed the examiner that i know what i'm doing,. one of your example scenarios here happened to me during my successful road test attempt,what happened was, i stopped at a safe distance when i saw a pedestrian crossing the street where i was driving, she wasn't looking at us and just so focused on her mobile phone,so soon as i had a safe distance to pass her, i went on. and another incident that day was, we were heading back to DMV , and i was driving on this narrow street where there were cars parked on both sides, soon as i entered that street and i saw a vehicle coming from opposite direction, i stopped temporarily, the other car was more commited on the road, meaning , he's halfway down it snd i was just at the entrance of the street, so i yielded to him. The examiner must have been impressed with that reaction, and so he passed me.

    • @asiyebozkaya9338
      @asiyebozkaya9338 3 года назад +4

      @@ConduiteFacile Yes, I already watched that one. But what I mean is, when there is a yellow blinking arrow for the left turn and you need to do a gap judgement. Sometimes there is no break in oncoming traffic and some drivers advance forward in the intersection to turn when the light becomes red. I would like to see your instructions about this because as a new driver I find this situation very dangerous.

    you have to be careful sometimes turning left when you think the pedestrian is far enough on the side walk on the other side. Happened to me a couple days ago on St-Jacques turning on Peel(also, with that weird left lane that's for parked vehicules and not for turning left). I'd already started turning left and the guy decided to start running in front of my car to make it to the other side on time.. that's downtown for you. Recently got my license and everyday, I get confronted with things I haven't really seen in my lessons. Like going on Ste-Catherine on the weekend. That's a good stress exercise.. eh eh. Jaywalking party.
