USMC here. However, I served on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) (cut up in 1999) from Aug. '71 to Aug. '72 on a WESTPAC cruise (Vietnam). Was with Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 224 (dissolved in 1999); we flew A-6A's, B's & KA-6D tankers. Had one EA-6B Prowler. Cheers from eastern TN

Another sci-fi ship we need is both nuclear and AIP UUV mothership, similar to the Sea Quest DSV. I call this vessel class the SSDN or SSA.

and buffering of materials and absorbancy to shock is critical for crew safety and structural integrity of the ship through segmented construction. No matter the ordinance for defensive capability ; survive an 'impact' to fight back immediately or another day. Incould conjunction with formidible construction; the power from the ship's generators could theoretically and potentially create a disruptive magnetic shield together with the DEW's and Laser defenses.

1 - While DEW weapons are not LASERS, they are what are called MASER's and have been around since before the inception of the Laser. The real reason they're not as affected by the atmosphere is their lower frequency in the EM spectrum. These rays could also be bounced by orbital satellites. Yes, these can be mounted on surface ships in place of older, these effective radar antenna. These could be used with the same directional targeting equipment as missiles and lasers. Creating the West Coast, Hawaii, and allied nations to effectively create an iron dome for us and our allies. If these are mature, we needed them in place 10 years ago. Then, the modern Axis nations wouldn't be saber rattling.

Idc how much a missle costs, or laser built machines, or anything for our military for that matter. It's simple....there are very serious, very dangerous weapons out there. With a very real, very serious evil controlling them. So w.e it takes to defend our ppl, our country, n our assets. If it makes our military duties easier, then make it happen. Does it protect, does it keep us stronger in all aspects compared to other countries, n does it place us in position to create some serious damage to other countries when needed then make it happen! W.e it costs, w.e it takes. No questions asked! Military needs n power is an absolute must.

As we've seen in Ukraine, there can never be enough air defence systems. They all have a part to play. China has copied a lot of Russian weapons systems and we can see how well Russian military technology works in Ukraine. A copy is never as good as the original. So, a copy of a terrible defence or attack weapons systems is that you always end up with a really bad system
