    I don't think it's a minifigure thing, I think it's more so the fact that the Falcon looks the same from episodes 4-6. Sure, minifigures imply the time a set is meant to take place, but, really, you could've reenacted the Battle of Endor with the previous OT Falcons with a little imagination from the minifigures since the ship itself looks identical.

    A poor conclusion imo. Obiwan jacking Greivous’s fighter for an episode is not comparable to Lando captaining the Falcon for the battle of Endor. It’s an iconic part of a climactic battle. I think the bigger issue would be supporting figures. Besides Lando and Nien there’s just a handful of generic Rebel commandos, and while I could see two or three of them coming along, that’s only 5 figures when a Falcon often comes with 7 to 10 or more, and there aren’t any droids either. But even then they could just give us Endor Luke, Han and Leia along with Threepio and R2… so I feel the other deal is market place availability. The UCS is still out there and so is the Rise of Skywalker one. A RotJ Falcon would be the same as those just with two different characters. It’s a shame because I want one, and I want other Jedi variant ships like Wedge’s X-Wing or Endor Gold Leader’s Y-Wing but there isn’t a spot for those right now.

      If thats too many figures to the size, they could always include a bit of spaceport, or an x-wing companion, and go up a price size, and lego fans would still eat it up.

    • @TheZamaron
      @TheZamaron Месяц назад +1

      Exactly. Making Lego sets takes time and effort to desighn them. Every Falcon especially does, we just occasionally get an updated one if newer pieces or techniques become available. The Sequel Falcon made sense, it was a little different to the OG due to years of neglect and damage, plus the new dish. The Falcon is the same in the OT with at best minor unimportant changes. So it all comes down to the minifigs, which we can always get in a new set or just make a minifig pack if it's a minifig people are desperate to get. Plus these sets often cost a bit, so pretty stupid to have like Solo, 4-5, 6, then a Sequel one, just nonsensical. If we would get a new Falcon set it would just be best as an update for the kid play scaled one, UCS Falcon is already the best for collectors wanting scale and accuracy, at least the best you can get for Lego's limitations.

    I feel like the reason is just that in Return of the Jedi the millenium falcon just has a smaller role. Obviously it blows up the death star, but the coincides with Luke fighting vader and vader's redemption. Vader and Luke obviously overshadow the millenium falcon and are the real climactic battle. It's just not really as iconic or memorable as it was in other films. Sort of like how Yoda vs palpatine in rots was overshadowed by anakin and obiwan, and i dont think we've ever gotten a set based off their duel.

    not to mention that the ROS Falcon still has (versions of) 4 characters who are commonly associated with the Falcon, Lando, Chewbacca, R2, and 3P0

    I think its also worth considering that comparatively speaking, the Falcon has much less of a role in ROTJ compared to the other 6 movies it appears in
    probably the best chance of getting a ROTJ Falcon would be as a "Trilogy edition" set, which would come with relevant characters from all the movies of the OT (ANH Han Luke and Leia, Chewbacca, R2, 3P0, ESB Han and Leia, ROTJ Lando, and Nien Nub, maybe you'll get Vader and Obi-Wan in there), but that's unlikely to be a retail set, more than likely a UCS

Considering there are 2 versions depicted with this set, ESB and TFA, which basically chronologically ''sandwich'' ROTJ, it would look exactly the same as in ROTJ. I purchased the new Nien Nunb, the 2009 general Lando Calrissian, converted the included ESB Han into ROTJ by giving him the black jacket/tan arms torso, and purchased the captain Rex Endor trooper and changed the head. He looks pretty much exactly like one of the gunners in the cockpit behind Lando and Nien. Done.

    The Falcon is identical from TESB and ROTJ. The reason why there are 2 different Lego version from those films is because the actual prop models are different in the films. But the TESB, ROTJ, TFA are the same models minus the rectangular dish.

    Honestly, i agree with most comments. Falcon looks exactly the same throughout the trilogy, and Mister Nub feels a little bit too obscure for kids, and most people associate Lando with cloud city.
    And adding two figures to regular Falcon roaster might be too much for Lego to do.
    Especially since apparently minifigures take a lot of set budget, at least if couple of interviews will few Ninjago designers are something to go off of.

  • @Cmmdre977
    @Cmmdre977 Месяц назад

    I see the thought pattern with the Grievous starfighter example, but it’s not really the same. Yoda and Bail have absolutely no connection to the Soulless one, except that it’s parked inside their ship, which is like a 10 second scene anyways. Whereas Nien Numb and Lando piloted the Falcon for the entire 3rd act of return of the Jedi, which is a huge and extremely memorable sequence. I think a falcon with those mini figures would make sense. And if they really need to include Han Solo, then just include the Endor Han and Chewbacca too

  • @weik-2936
    @weik-2936 23 дня назад

    and there's slim chance of a ROTJ Falcon coming out any time soon, the best time for it to happen was last year with ROTJ's 40th, but that opportunity has passed, the Dark Falcon is currently available, and LEGO's policy based off the shelf life of Prior Falcons seems to be to always keep one version on the shelves, there's a distinct possibility of the Falcon returning in that movie about the rebuilding of the Jedi Order coming out in 2025 or 2026, so LEGO will want a set based off of that, and ANH's 50th anniversary is coming up, the Falcon is the most logical way to celebrate that
    so yeah, the earliest possibility for a ROTJ Falcon would probably be 2029, AT BEST, and that's not even accounting for other potential projects that might release featuring the Falcon (let's not kid ourselves, Lucasfilm is at least considering a cartoon about the OT characters set between the movies)

    honestly, it's fine if they never make one.
    Int he end, the falcon is the falcon. If the ship is from ANO, or ESB... it's still the exact same ship that was in ROTJ.
    I bought the Episode 4 falcon when I was a kiddo, but even though that was *my* Falcon, I was never really satisfied with the shapes and proportions... all things that the 2019 TROS Falcon fixed.
    What did I do? I bought it, put my Episode 4 figues in there, changed a few things in the interior, added a few plates to fill the gaps, redone some gribling (especially at the back... and now I have a near-UCS looking (when it comes to detail, obviously not for size) Episode 4 Falcon that finally has shapes and proportions that kinda matches the source material.
    It doesn't matter if its the Episode 9 set, the figures are in the bottom of a drawer somewhere, forgotten. The Falcon looks the same from episode 4 to episode 9, save for the radar dish, the get broken in episode 6, replaced with a squared one, then broken again ion episode 8 to go back to a round dish in episode 9. Details that can easily be changed.
    You have the ability to get a NienNumb figure, you have the ability to get Lando episode 6 figure as well. Nothing prevents you from taking them, putting them in the cockpit of the episode 9 falcon and calling it a day.
    The Falcon is one of those sets, that if you don't release the one version that people want (here the ROTJ version), they complain, but if you do, then they complain all the same with two arguments : it's a cheap cash-grab remake of the same set but with different minifigures, or "but it's not the iconic episode 4/5 one !"
    At the end of the day, nobody wins. The only way to make everybody happy would be to make a figure pack for the ROTJ version that you coul;d buy for like 15 bucks that adds all teh figures you need, but releasing a new set would be excessive (also, even then there would be complaints)

That way you get every important character that has flown the Falcon but also the option to pick what you want to do. Wanna have the classic Han and Chewie? Go for it. Wanna have the scene from ROTJ with Lando and Nien? A good choice.

    If Lego ever makes an ROTJ Millennium Falcon set, I could see the minifigure lineup looking more or less like the following , since there are usually about seven minifigs in any given Falcon set. Han just needs to be based on an earlier scene in the film.
    Han Solo, from the hangar bay/"she won't get a scratch" scene (easily workable. Or from the meeting scene on Home One, even.)
    Chewbacca (of course)
    General Lando Calrissian
    Nien Nunb
    Lieutenant Blount (General Cracken appeared as a minifig already, why not him?)
    Leia on Home One, or a supporting character, like Mon Mothma or General Madine
    Random hanger astromech droid (since Lego Falcon sets like to include small droid characters for the last minifig)

    Unless you're collecting for unopened boxes and want the original trilogy boxes lined next to one another, there's no reason to have three of the exact same kits.
    I don't see any reason to not make an ep. 6 Falcon, the only money they would have to spend is making a new box, they already have the parts and instructions made from two other ships.

    _video pops up in recomendations_
    Oh it's probably because the Millennium Falcon barely changes between movies, might even just be that dish that constantly gets knocked off resulting in a circle or square replacement. Unless you're including another ship the only real difference between an ESB and a ROTJ set would be the Minifigures so why bother going through all the production and paperwork stuff to manufacture a "unique" set when you can just make more of the ESB one?
    Atleast with other sets like the TFA and Solo ones there's not only an upcoming movie but a noticeable color scheme difference so they're unique enough to justify being new sets.
    _watches video_
    Oh well I guess your reasoning makes sense but I still think the answer is much simpler in that a RTJ set wouldn't be unique enough. Lego almost never does repeat sets unless they're tiny where the focus is on collecting a bunch like Clone Trooper/Battle Droid sets or they're doing an updated version with newer designs.

    I don’t think it is because of the lack of Han Solo. I think it’s much more likely that we haven’t seen one is because the UCS and the TROS falcon (which has no Han Solo and was sold long after the relevance of the film) had both been on shelves for the past half decade, are identical in design to what a Return of the Jedi set would be.
    But also of the three falcon micro fighters only two had Han. So he’s not the be all end all.
    And r o put things into perspective there’s only been 9 non-midi scale/microfighter falcons in the last 25 years and they are pretty evenly distributed between the seven films it appears in. 3 from ANH, 2 from Empire, 2 from force awakens, 1 from TROS, 1 from solo and the 1 dark side one which is separate. And of these the films that have more than one are the result of UCS sets. The only film with two play scale sets is A New Hope which had one in 2000, 24 years ago, when Star Wars still had yellow figs and one in 2011, 13 years ago.
    In fact the UCS falcon from 2017 is the only original trilogy falcon to come out since the last ANH one in 2011.
