On May 16, 2019, the international express giant DHL-Sinotrans announced a strategic partnership with EHang to jointly launch a fully automated and intelligent AAV(autonomous aerial vehicle) delivery solution and its first approved flight route in urban area of China.

It is absolutely an amazing concept! However, I'm more curious in the profitability of this. How you gonna make it profitable if the volume of one package and the drone range are so low? Obviously an economy of scale can make this profitable, or the transportation of high priced goods such as medication. Currently making a project about this. So all answers are welcome.

I like the auto drone alignment inside the station. 2:16 I have this idea. Take it for free. Put a drone inside a small portable station and deliver the station. Then the drone can do some tasks on site, park inside the station and the client will never directly interact with the drone. All will be remote.
