I'll put it simple: would you prefer 24 Gripen or 18 F-15EX Strike Eagle II or 16 Rafale or 16 EF-2000 Eurofighter? Maybe 20 stealth F-35? Even famous short ranged F-18C/D Hornet have longer leg then Gripen, but it's not a surprise with just one of two engines installed on former McDonnell Douglas now Boeing fighter forcing to about half a plane size. Try to use JAS39 even on the simpliest game and you'll understand it immediately you have a modern variant of the Northrop F-5 Tiger II
