    Hi Jake,
I’m a therapist from Australia who is also an ex jw. Any followers who are looking for support with their mental health, I would love to offer my services. With my background and understanding, it allows me to relate to my clients and for them to not have to educate or explain the nuances of the religion to their therapist. Thank you for your advocacy work. You continue to help so many people.

Could you give some advice on how to rebuild a support system afterwards? It has been 4 years since I left and I feel isolated and alone. I feel like an alien with nothing in common with people around me. I know I went door to door, talking to strangers for most of my life..but now that I’m not preaching, I feel like I have no idea how to connect with people. Or where to begin to even look for connections

@@Blackgypsyessentials Hi, Yes great question, we can all relate. I could talk to you all day about this topic lol
I can give you some generalised tips. Hope some of it can relate to your situation.
      - Have a look at your current network and see if there are any relationships that you would like to grow and put more time in. Work colleagues, acquaintances, old school friends you could re connect with, worldly family members.
For example- ask your favourite co worker for lunch. Or add old school friends on social media and start an online conversation catching up.
      - Community resources, sports, gyms, dog parks ect
Putting yourself out there can be very scary, I know. Just remember, ex JW or not. We are all built to need human connection and there are so many people waiting for a cool “ex cult member” friend in their life 😉

Because of the movies they watched, the way their parents behaved, or some gossip my parents might have heard about the kids or their parents.

It is sad how people in that organization are brain-washed by these horrible leaders. Can you even imagine how Jesus would treat a sinner by telling him or her to come back in a year and then get reintated? What ever happened to "go and sin no more?'" Of course that is if the person sinned in the first place. I left 25 years ago because of being tired of never feeling like you have done enough for this organization. It is unrealistic! Many stay because of fear of being killed by God either during Armegeddon or the end of their life. It's called INSANITY!!! My crime was being a part of another Christian church. According to them the whole world is Evil except for them! Is that what Jesus taught? NO! Even during Moses's day a vast mixed crowd joined the Jews in leaving Egypt, but according to them all believers in Christ will be destroyed unless they are a Jehovah's Witness. Think about how ridiculous that is!!!

This will lead to secret shunning (not to be mentioned outside the family) and (it's to be hoped) factions within the Hall

    Removed from the congregation?!!?!?
Strange…. I thought that witnesses refer to it as disfellowshipped/ disfellowshipping because that REALLY gives the sense of what's taking place within this particular religious
community. Disfellowshipped literally means no further spiritual fellowship. The disfellowshipped person is not
completely shunned (or removed from the congregation) the disfellowshipped person is able to come into the congregation meetings, they're able to attend in the kingdom hall of Jehovahs witnesses. They're able to sit wherever they like they can sing
the spiritual songs with the congregation. As far as their family members are concerned, normal family relations continue with the exception of
spiritual fellowship and the the door is not closed either. The person who is disfellowshipped can after a period of time ask to be reinstated in the congregation because that's the purpose of the discipline.
“Removed from the congregation” sure doesn’t have the same zing that lawyer hyped up for disfellowshipping.

If the force in Star Wars magic or witchcraft & JW are to stay away from Staw Wars, should they not stay away from their cult as well? They believe the Holy Spirit is a "force". So they believe in witchcraft. Such cherry picking to fit their doctrine.

I once sat in a restaurant to eat with the speaker, and this brother across the table (friend of the visiting speaker) struck up a conversation with me. He was super friendly and animated. He started asking me what kind of shows and movies I like. I mentioned Star Wars and Firefly, and he immediately shot them down and went on about how spiritistic and immoral those are. Never met this mfer in my life. I was so put off, I physically turned in my chair and spoke to literally anyone but him the rest of the time. Found out later he thought I was cute and wanted to get to know me.
    Never been drier.

Applause was spontaneous for a long time, but at some point, after or around the year 2000, the Watchtower Society got in touch with their more sensitive side, and decided that it might make brorhers feel bad if brother "Great Speaker" was always the recipient of a standing ovation, or at least an ovation, and all the brothers "Mediocre" never got one.
So the ruling came down that applause would occure after every time all the brothers "Newbie" gave their first talks, and then they would never know that feeling again unless they reached out sufficiebtly to become a ministerial servant, or an elder, and were qualified to give public talks where ovations are basically manditory.
    Isnt Jehovah wise, brothers?

I think this change, whilst not specifically affecting the Norway case, but is most certainly a reaction to it, will over the coming years, further distance the written evidence of disfellowshipping, to something they used to do. Its certainly only for legal reasons that they are doing this, playing with words is a clever way to misinform and manipulate those outside who don't live under their rules.

It's the worst bout of semantics. There is no true change. Disfellowshipping continues, they've just made it a more difficult process but the most important part is the rebranding of it. And how dumb it is to try and remake the word "remove ".
If I remove someone or something from my house, they are not inside my house. A "removed" person can still go to the kingdom hall and be at the meetings. It's not the same as being disfellowshiped which implied ostracization but not removal which implies physically being disallowed to enter or be at meetings. It's all on purpose to make it seem like they don't shun or disfellowship like you said in the video. What's that word? Never heard of it! We remove people. No, not like that.

Maybe unhappily married JW couples who both agree that they don't want to be together and also want to be "free" to remarry in the future if they want perhaps might coordinate adultery? The bible is an extremely historically inaccurate document. A book which is a collection of books which lacks a story, plot or substance. Why anyone would refer to it as a moral reference is absurd.
