@@FryedCalamari Ardyn destroys his JP counterpart easily. Regarding other villains I think Emperor is equally awesome in both english and jp. Also Sephiroth
I like the irony in “Arrogance undermines your might.” Because he went through the exact same blunder with Tellah, who hit him dead on with a freaking METEOR. Because of this, he lost both Kain and a chance to end Cecil before he grew any stronger.
Underestimating is not arrogance, Tellah still didn't even come close to beating Golbez (and neither did the rest of the party throughout the entirety of FF4).
@@GIR177 while that is true, the way his battle with Tellah is painted very much implies arrogance. He simply sat there, mocking Tellah about “Such feeble spells.” while being blasted with -aga spells one after another, not even bothering to attack. And while yeah, it didn’t really do much to him physically, that was still what bought Cecil a chance to escape, in addition to losing one of his stronger possessed units. That’s the whole point; sure, he was physically fine after a while, but he lost his chance to deal with Cecil, the big bad MC. He was weakened enough that he couldn’t. His arrogance fighting Tellah quite literally undermined his might, and that cost him.
He took it pretty hard in the original. He definitely made up for it at the end and in The After Years. Golbez is actually my favorite antagonist that redeems himself at the end and reconciles with his brother.
It would have been really nice to see Zemus and Xande get further development. I thought they had the makings of interesting characters but the stories of their games failed to give them any substance. At least FF3 Xande was at least succeeded by FF14 Xande even if they are different characters.
Given the nature of Dissidia, I think it'd be cool if they picked out another villain to fit a similar role. Like how 012 had Emperor acting as stand-in for Seymour in Yuna's campaign.
They should make another Final Fantasy Origins game for Golbez. It would be more intresting to see Golbez side of view of the game. Maybe we can see Jack and Golbez teaming up to fight the gods.
I know right? Especially considering Kain got BOTH of his After Years outfits. If it was about not wanting to lip synch his mouth, they could just fluff up his cloak so that it covers his mouth or something.
The team throughout the video is Golbez, Cecil, and Garland. In the first and last parts of the video Golbez has his Golbez Reimagined skin and Cecil has his Cecil Reimagined II skin. During the middle they have their default skins.

His voice is great but I think a few of the lines could stand to be reread, in some the strength of his voice wanes out of that strong "Golbezness" whereas in Dissidia and 012 it's really consistent but as always they probably rush through any non-JP VA work

He killed a lot of people. It's fortunate that Tellah perished before Golbez reformed, because he NEVER would have forgiven the death of Anna.
