Thank You both for this excellent demonstration. My father, a very well known player, recently had his favorite instrument, an Unsere Lieblinge 32 damaged through no fault of his own. His caretakers accidentally laundered the instrument and when it came out of their dryer, it was missing the screws that hold the cover plates together and the plates, comb and the draw and blow plates were all tumbled together with the laundry. My brother had Hohner send replacement screws so I could reassemble it, but looks like several of the reeds were bent well out of shape so I don't believe it's going to sound good even if I do get it back together. This little operation looks pretty straightforward as long as one has all the appropriate tooling, without which, it's like trying to do eye surgery with a butterknife! Hopefully we can send it back to the company and they can have their technicians do this using the correct tools and materials. This is a much more delicate operation than I had envisioned. My compliments to you. As a dentist of 34 years, I truly appreciate watching someone who can do precision handwork like this.

Perfect! My highest tone reed in Horner Airboard 37 (F3) is broken. Is it possible to order this F3 reed from your Service center? I do not want to ship the whole melodica overseas.

Hey it works!!! I just bought the Instant Workshop Toolkit - really expensive, but I have already replaced a few reeds and rehabilitated almost a dozen Marine Band Deluxes and Crossovers, so I guess it has paid for itself. One criticism of the video, you don't deal with this problem: when you replace a draw reed, the reed plate no longer sits flat on the comb because of the bolt head! On a wooden comb I've used a file to remove enough wood to let it sit flat - but it should be noted!

That is terrible. I don't want to damage my comb. And yes, I also noticed that the set is totally overpriced.

I just posted a question on the First video in this new series and asked if there are replacement reeds available. This video answers my question, but also increases my total frustration... The set of Reeds shown at 4:44 sells at no less than a Staggering
    152 Euros.....................
I'm sure that's just to keep Reeds a Mysterious and Rare item,
    that's my opinion.

Yeah the reeds are expensive. You're better off buying a new harmonica or a new reed plate than individual reeds

I apologize. I did not have time right now to watch the entire video but where do you obtain reeds for specific brands of harps? I am pretty new to harp tweaking. Anyone? Thank you Don

How I buy Reed's from India?

Explanation could not be better, however it seems that it would be unreasonable to buy the whole set, even though there is no mention of the price. After all it takes a long time to loose these reeds. In this video there is an explanation as of replacing reeds. I would love to find out if there is a way to soften the existint ones, which hardened up for little use. Immersing in water (cold) is no longer doing the job.

I have sworn off Hohners for the rest of my life. I currently own a Big River as well as a Blues Harp. The #2 draw reed on both are stuck & I want to recap the reeds. Turns out I need a special tool to take the cover plates off, & no hardware store as well as no music store seels the posidrive wrench. However, for the heck of it, I used a tiny Phillips head screwdriver on my Suzuki, just to see if I have any problems. Guess what - the Phillips head screwdriver works like a charm. Why can't Hohner make life that easy? Why do they have to be so difficult? From now on, goodbye Hohner. You have the most uneducated engineers designing harmonicas. I'll stick with Suzuki's & may give LOs a spin.

I have found Big River harps to be the best deal for the money (still way over priced), and have used them for decades pretty much exclusively. (I bought a lot of them when they were still under ten bucks each.) I always take the covers off them, and put lower profile covers on them - because I play them from a rack, and they are just a bit too thick for comfort with their original covers on them. I use very old Marine Band covers for the most part.
Anyway, I have taken the covers off dozens of Big River harps without difficulty - using 2 small Phillips head screwdrivers at the same time (one on either side). Suzuki harps are fine too - nothing against them at all.

@HohnerHMI it's way too expensive! it would sell better than reed (pack of 3).

NOWHERE TO BUY SINGLE REPLACEMENT REEDS IN THE UK AND POSSIBLY NOT THE REST OF EUROPE EITHER! THEY WANT YOU TO BUY WHOLE REEDPLATES INSTEAD. THEY ARE HAPPY ENOUGH TO SELL YOU AN EXPENSIVE TOOL KIT THOUGH

Trying to find replacement reeds for Hohner harmonicas continues to be a joke. Hohner no longer provides them and you're being subjected to just replacing the entire instrument. If you do find them the ridiculous high prices make no sense in buying a replacement. I'll be replacing my Hohner with a better brand of harmonica that provides better service and replacement parts than Hohner. Very disappointed and sorry that I invested my money in the Hohner brand.
