That’s some nice looking poplar guys Just curious what other kinds of makers of sawbits are there. Our dealer here in Ontario for Simmonds carbide. In June they were 3.50’each per bit now the price jumped to 10.20 per bit. So a box is over 1000 which is insane so we may need to switch to somthing else .. I would really appreciate your feedback on this matter please
Well, 3.50 seems really cheap in June, but 10.20 seems really high. I just bought two boxes for 5.50 two weeks ago. There are some other companies, but I really recommend the Simonds.
Enjoyed the sawing. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching.

Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Andruw! I was curious how poplar is springy in comparison to other common woods. I have never touched poplar before.
It really gets springy when you get down around the heart more so than some of the other species.
good job Andruw!
Thanks, Mark. Thanks for watching.
I think I might have cut that log differently before I sent the logs to the mill.
Thanks for watching.
Is this tulip wood by chance?
Yes, it is tulip poplar.
How do you guys check for metal before sawing?
We have a handheld metal detector, but we just use it if we suspect something. We have been pretty lucky so far. Thanks for watching.
Thanks!
Thank you, that really helps us make these videos. Thank you for watching.
How long was that log?
14 foot
@@AndruwsLumber Good job guys.
Top logs of poplar trees don't make very strong rafters.
No, they are not as strong as the logs without knots.
Good job, guys. I looked like the wind was causing problems for the sawyer. Was that why you switched?
Bill
We were planning on switching anyway, but you are right it was windy. Thanks Bill.
your poplar is a different tree than our popple up here mistake everyone makes ours grows in old farm fields etc.good for paper or filler in plywood
Yea, that field poplar is not as good as the poplar that grows in the woods.
Temple hills saw could have used your help today...
Yea, I think he was having some bad luck with some bits. Thanks for watching.

@ so you paid 5.50 American per box? That would be 765 Canadian per box plus tax. I saw pretty hard and fast probably need the best sawbits I can get
@@TheWildWestMill Well in my opinion Simonds Dominators are the best. Are you running 5/16th?
@ yes sir that’s what I run they are a great sawbit And I cut some dirty nasty stuff
