People want to feel so connected to an artist so bad that they feel as if an artist belongs to them. "I don't like Billie's new style!" "She's not relatable anymore!" People say stuff like this as if an artist isn't their own person and human being. That's such an exploitive mindset to have. They don't make art FOR you. They make art and put it out for the world, yes. And you like the art or you don't but too many people feel entitled in telling an artist what they should and shouldn't do. "Billie abandoned her audience." It's more like Billie has grown as an artist and now her audience is abandoning her. Though at the same time there are more who love Billie than those who feel like she has "Left them." People that feel like that miss the idea they had of Billie, maybe could relate to her more. But Billie has grown as a person and people who feel like she should be who she was before are the ones who haven't grown. An artist gets famous for a sound and people think they need to stay that way. This is what happened to Doja Cat. People want to keep these artists as the ideas they kept of them in their head and not once did they think of these artists as actual artists or multidimensional human beings. Just because an artist is popular for a certain sound doesn't mean that's all they are. It's such an immature mindset. People wonder why artists will do weird things to branch away from what feels like obligatory expectations put on them. Once they do the weird thing and their audience hates them they can feel free to do whatever they want. Billie made her music and the world loved it but it was only a fragment of her. These eras encapsulate certain thoughts, ideas, or parts of their life and feelings but then the audience sees that as all they are. These artists are human beings and it's simply that people do not see them as such.
Exactly, the fans don't understand that an artist has to change their style, in order to change with the times. What was the norm 10 -15 years ago, is not going to work right now, so they have to find something more appropriate for modern audiences. The people who like them already, can't accept that their time has already passed and that it's time for a new generation. You can't stay stuck in the past forever.
for me, this is my favorite project from her, before this album, i just listened to a few singles i liked here and there, then i listened to this album and it’s been on repeat. i can definitely agree with this album sounding different from what she’s done in the past, but that’s personally why i like it, maybe this album will bring in a newer audience for her as well.
I was struggeling with this fact that she changed... I've never been fan of anyone but billie did this. She started to changing her style and her songs... and i was sad. Then at the same time i was growing up in my personal life and i saw that i have changed alot my clothes my talking everything... then i accepted her that she is a human. Im still her fan so bad more than the past and now i accepted the aging about myself now im seeing billie is herself , not a character. She s still pretty , has fantastic voice even more range now. She is doing that she's comfortable in it now. The fact that never change about us is we are going to change... and if we dont change so we are doing something wrong. Thanks for this video man thabks
I'll say this. She keeps producing interesting stuff. And you can tell she's really following her own heart w/o being an insufferable b*tch about it. She's pretty relatable in interviews, and I once saw her direct a crowd during a concert like few artists ever could. I'm not that much into her music but she's got that certain something. "Lunch" is a fun blend of the 90s and 2000s. It's like the song was originally made by Blink 182 in their early years and flipped on it's head, w/o sounding man-hating. And what other artists ouzes that much femininity? I think the world needs more artists like her, regardless the field.
I honestly really liked the new album. I was never a MASSIVE FAN but I’ve enjoyed her music since Ocean Eyes. I think she’s great for the times… a lot more interesting than some of them out now
No? ❤ she's not a teenager anymore and neither are her audience teenagers anymore. She would have abandoned her audience if she kept making the same thing, because her audience would have outgrown her.
I personaly don't get how 'Happier Than Ever' is considered a flop. Her discography is great. It wasn't what we were expecting, but the album was still great. I wasn't expecting 'Hit Me Hard And Soft' either, but I still think it was good. I really respect Billie and Phinneas as artists and look foward to more music from them.
I'm the same, I've never listened to any of her songs and nor do I follow her on media. She just does interest me in general, and I doubt I would ever.
I'm pretty sure all her fans are standing right here together right next to her and waiting for the next album to come out. Billy is still Billy and will always be Billy and yes she is pretty.

This is such an important comment. I feel so many people need to sit down and read this comment over and over again until they truly GET IT. ❤

I feel like this is the best project from Billie
Can’t stop listening so good

@@DonAnjeloplease do a video on Lee hyori and her music.
this album hits harder and harder each time you listen to it. It grows
I don't know how these two musical wizards do it, but I feel like every album is addicting to them.
Trying to figure out how Happier Than Ever was a flop era
literally
On her scale compared to the hype behind “WWAFAWDWG?” It was definitely a flop in terms of sales in comparison.
Fr
Compared to her other albums it is, nobody I mean nobody talks about it.
@@dolphin8766 babe… youre commenting on a whole video discussing it and prolly got recommended others. What are you talking about?

I love her she is expressing herself in all the ways

you need to have a personality and distic charisma to have a massive loyal fan base , you need to be memorable.

I think Happier Than Ever is still my favorite...

I disagree the production on this album is better !! The garage demo vibes gives it like a raw y2k garage band and I love itttt
yall toss the word y2k at anything...
I'm not a big fan of her but I like some of her songs
All I have to say is I will always love Billie no matter what and I have always and will always love her and her music forever ♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️
🙂
People will say "growth" into a artist actually does it.
Is there a typo or is that really what you meant? Cause “growth into” makes no sense
She didn't abandon any of her fans, not at all, Mr. Robot.
I love her. She didn’t abandon me ❤❤❤❤❤❤
FINALLY !! someone else who thought the back-half of blue segment reminded them of james blake !!!! 😭
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't care for her music or her personality lol
I'm the same, I've never listened to any of her songs and nor do I follow her on media. She just does interest me in general, and I doubt I would ever.
You’re one of the few people and that’s okay☺️☺️☺️
I don't care for her personality at all but I have to admit that her music slaps.
@@angelinaoliver5587 plenty of people don't care about celebrities at all lol
