I completely understand this, however, I would disagree. By aquiecing at the Munich conference, Chamberlain had set the Molotov-ribbentrop pact into motion, which was a catalyst for the war. Stalin felt betrayed that the British had sold out Czechoslovakia and therefore decided to ally with Hitler. The alliance gave hitler confidence as he felt that a two-front war could be avoided. From my knowledge, this is what gave him the will to invade. Not to mention the vast amounts of British equipment left behind during Dunkirk. Of course, I feel both opinions are valid and this point is debatable. After all, Britain did win the war. So yeah, that's my point of view.

Russia is losing because of a weakness they’ve always had, lack of NCOs. It’s just officers. Without NCOs providing battlefield leadership and direction it’s all a very top down leadership style which means you just have to target the officers to throw armies into disarray. It’s why Russian generals keep getting sent to the front and dying. There’s a reason America has NCOs, China is trying to develop NCOs, and Russia is suffering militarily.

Putin decided to declare war on Ukraine, having on the get go the national spirits : sanctions (+20% civ factory, -100 opinion from nato), a brotherly war (-50% war support, -0.10 recov rate) and corrupt army (-20% org, -0.20 recov rate, -20% attack and defense )
After launching huge assaults suffering a shit ton of attrition, he now has lost a lot manpower and equipment. He is facing Ukraine that has nice national spirit like :defense of Ukraine (-10 surrender limit, 20% attack and defense on core territory, -0.1 compliance rate on occupied territory)
Plus massive lend lease form nato members . The Ukrainians are now counterattacking which forces Putin to go from volunteer only to partial mob . A lot of special events give some random but negative debuffs to the Russian side. The only help they have is lend lease from NK and Iran. He is now going trying to send inexperienced and under équiped division against fully equiped, super experienced Ukrainian and foreign volunteers.

13:45 As a Russian I find this part so relevant! In big part to WWI, Civil War, Stalin’s terror and WWII Russian society is not a mentally healthy one. We have the highest male suicide rate in World and 85% of Russian youth has non-zero Adverse Childhood Experience score while only 50% in US do. For the Russians born in 1940s this percentage is about 100%. Trying to heal both past generational trauma and the one currently generated by war is one of the big reasons I started working as school teacher this year: people working in the Russian system of advanced STEM education are main reason I’m mostly mentally healthy and have some prospects in life and I want to assist those teachers in healing and helping the kids who are the basically the future of Russia.

so in fact you should be glad he's not like Hitler, Putin's regime seems to not be long for this world.

wars of aggresion is how nations expand, hell settler style colonialism is how most major nations have come to be but you also have things such as ideology and depends on policies and actions of the past, like the USA expanding, genociding and waging wars of aggresion to expand to a size close to that of Russia, Germany expanded in the Franco-Prussian war and lost lands due to defending Austria in ww1 and lost more trying to regain lands lost by Poland and expand beyond in ww2.
Like war is just an extention of political goals, as it's unlikely for nations to give up land when asked nicely, war becomes the only solution, war is a tool and technology and weapons have made those tools all the more terrible though at the same time technology has also connected people more than ever which makes wars less likely to happen.
nations we consider ''peacefull'' wage war on other nations, unprovoked sometimes all the time or don't even declare war and bomb hospitals or schools, that's not to say all war is bad or west is bad and therefor nations like China or Russia are good.
war is just a tool that can be used for political goals and people often want war, Putin is very popular in Russia because the people love war, they love victory, they love expanding and proving to the world they are equal to the USA or can match the economic power of say the EU, of course when it's their child getting send to war they hate it when it's other people's children they don't mind as much.
we in the west seem to have this idea that weakness = virtue or that war = always bad and they can't imagine that an empire can do good and that sometimes wars of aggresion can be justified by elites or people or both, that still makes war horrible and very destructive but like the old saying goes, the goals justify the means and that's how these things tend to start, Hitler was also popular, people wanted revenge, they wanted to restore what was lost, it's easy to say they were wrong since they lost the war but that's not the point, the point is that war is something that drives all nations, hell it's basically how all nations come to be to begin with.

  • @Carl-Gauss
    @Carl-Gauss Год назад +3

8:27 Putin is more of a parody version of Hitler rather than an actual analogy:
    1. Putin lacks charisma
    2. Putin lacks big ambitions: why only start mobilization on moth 7 and not just try to conquer Ukraine in 2014 when it would’ve been much easier?
    3. Putin’s ideology is more of a fascism than nazism: Ramzan Kadyrov is ok cause he’s loyal to the state even though he speaks Russian with thick accent and different race by Russian standards. While Ukrainians who fight against Putin are “scum” cause they don’t want to submit to his regime.
Putin lacks strategic vision - if he had a strategy where he will conquer Ukraine it made much more sense to full-scale invade in 2014 when Ukrainian army wasn’t experienced, maintained or prepared.
    4. Putin lacks ground support: no-one genuinely admires him and inspired by him other than some babushkas
    5. Russia isn’t really militarized: otherwise there wouldn’t have been just 200k actual combat-ready ground troops prepared in February.

What's interesting is i m asking myself if this show is intentionally made. Russia lacks some things, but they cannot be this weak. I think its all set up, and the real soldiers are waiting. But i m afraid to think what would come next.
Tell me, for a man that raised purely by merit, and work his ass off to remain in power, showing sometimes good qualities of a leader, why would he throw his image and change all that with this performance? I think so the West can think its winnable and to have internal issues as is already happening, only then to be crushed by the reality.
He is either a clown or a military genius. I hope he's a clown, cause if he's not, our very survival will be put at the test. And seeing how idiotic most of the people are, there aren't great chances will end up for our species.
