Hi, Amazon will not be collecting VAT for HMRC; you will need to claim it back. You should hire an accountant to calculate how much you owe HMRC on sales, subtract the VAT you have paid, and then pay the resulting amount.

Salaam. New seller looking to start next month doing FBA wholesale. Hoping some prices rise to accommodate the vat fees or it's going to be hard being profitable.
    Your thoughts?

      Walukm al salam
My experience is in private labeling, but wholesale margins are already tight. I think it will be more challenging to do wholesale and arbitrage in particular, as you can't control the price because you share the buy box. You still have the sale price without the VAT, but all the Amazon fees will make it much harder.

    Hi
If you are non vat registered on Amazon do you need any non vat except certification if so how we can obtain it? Or we can simply open up a case and ask Amazon to to put us in Vat exempt?
    Thanks in Advance

      Hi,
There is no VAT exemption anymore since the 1st of August. If you are not VAT registered, Amazon will charge VAT on fees and ads, and you won't be able to reclaim it. However, there is no VAT on your sales price. If you are VAT registered, you can claim back VAT paid on fees and services, and you need to factor VAT into your price as you will have to charge it. Hope this is clear.
