Shopping Eldorado is a Brazilian shopping center opened in 1981,located in the west of the city of São Paulo, on the edge of Marginal Pinheiros, on the corner with Avenida Rebouças. The mall belongs to the former shareholders of the extinct Hipermercado Eldorado, sold to Carrefour in 1997. Since 2008, Eldorado has been managed by Ancar Ivanhoe. According to Fauze Mattar, this is one of the fifteen largest malls in Brazil by gross leasable area, occupying the twelfth place in 2010, with 73,800 m². It reached its peak in the 1980s. but it wore thin, in part due to family disputes over its controlling interest, over the next decade. Subsequently, it received new attractions, such as Academia Formula and Parque da Mônica - the latter closed in the first half of 2010. Afterwards when? it underwent an update, which promoted a deep expansion in its basements (mainly because of the vacant space left by the amusement park, which occupied three floors of the mall) and received new stores of established brands to be able to be characterized, even more, as a mall aimed at the upper middle classes of the region.[citation needed] It is one of the largest shopping centers in São Paulo, with more than 150 thousand m² of built area, with three floors and two basements.
