    Lot of power for a single cylinder. Think the 150 is a single as well. I see where the triple expansion steam engine on ships have steam applied to both the top and bottom of the piston, maybe this is a common aspect for all steam engines. I need to look at basics again. Seems like it would be common. Thanks

      @FarmersMasonry 11 месяцев назад +4

      Yes this little monster is actually surprisingly powerful for its size! it can do a lot you would wanna do with it. And yes the 150 Case is single cylinder most cases are single but i believe there was a few double cylinder ones made. And with these certain type of cylinders its a little different compared to trains and steam boats, with steam engines they where designed for the simple on ground stuff such as plowing and sawing wood and threashing so they where designed to run at a slower pace where as steamboats where designed to ship demand from one place to another in a certain amount of time. I’ve never seen the inside of the Steam engine cylinder in person but i have seen pictures and it’s a lot different then other engines. Steam comes from the top of the pistons and pushed a block back and forth and circulates back in forth causing the pushing of the wheels and such and such. Thank you for commenting!

    Very cool. Thats alot of effort put in for a remake of an old tractor. I still feel a little disappointed no one has gotten around to trying to remake the chevy steam car or something like that. Steam cars were never serious compared to gas cars despite bigger steam ships being way better compared to the bigger gas piston ships. If you know someone who wants to be the first at something it would be cool if someone finally made a serious car or if not just ran their car lean and their engine hot and brought back water injection (as steam) but this time reusing water to not refill. Supposedly if you run an engine too lean they melt down but water should be a simple way to cool it down so someone could probably make a channel like that lawn mower carburator guy off of it if they got good mpg on some used car if they were actually able to get it going.

    • @FarmersMasonry
      @FarmersMasonry Год назад

      that would be so cool too see and they have injectors too cool down the steam if it gets too hot

    • @gabriels5105
      @gabriels5105 Год назад +1

      Water is pretty cool stuff. My grandpa talked about there being attempts to make high mpg carburators and fun stuff like that. He told me water was injected into engines to burn or something and I thought it was pretty weird because water already is burnt. I realised later water splits when hot enough so it can totally burn again if you get it hot enough to split so thats kind of funny. Anyways its kind of annoying that all the car companies are trying to jump over to electric when there not even close to the end of ice tech tree. When you think about it cars have radiators its pretty gross. Radiators are entirely dedicated to getting rid of energy. It dosent really matter if its done by water injection or if its done by liquid lithium coolent to water and then to a tesla steam turbine, car companies never even tried replacing the radiator and keeping the energy but still pretend their cars are efficient. Any normal v8 engine these days should be getting no less than a few percent off of prius mpg when they are at speed and doing nothing but ideling but they pretend its got to be a 14 to 1 ratio and do nothing about changeing that.

      @@jerrysundin8425 as far as the whole subject I never found a book that explained the whole thing though I would like too. For videos there is a shell 377 mpg opel that I heard does not have a radiator because they want it to run hotter. When it comes to gasoline I saw a video or two explaining air fuel mixtures and the reason they chose to use the ratio they did was because otherwise the engine would run too hot and the evaporation of gasoline could keep areas of the engine from over heating. I thought I saw more than a few people people add water vapor in front of their engines but never really get the results they wanted because they did not have control over things like tuning and timing and did not have follow up videos. I heard early aircraft and tractors used water injection but I did not look into it enough. Anyways I think a new bmw engine has water injection but I am somewhat sure it is for cooling and not gas mileage and they dont heat the water using excess heat before hand. I also saw a guy on youtube run a lawn mower carburetor on his old v8 and it got much more gas milage on the freeway. He said it was 40mpg. It was from thunderhead 289. His car got like 60 horse power and over heated when not moving but with water injection I would imagine he would get more hp and his engine would run at a proper temp which would likely get him even more mpg. Being able to turn big engines suddenly into economy engines would be pretty nice. His mpg is likely due to running lean excellent fuel air mixture of running gas and air quicker through a small not straight tube in a small caurburator. I also heard water mixes into ethanol which can be used to seperate it from normal gasoline though I am not sure it that is helpful in this case.

      It takes a TON of work to even get the engine started I can’t even imagine how much work it is to build one! And I know the prices of Steam Engines have sky rocketed in prices. They’re just very hard to find parts and fittings and a new good boiler! i’ve seen a half scale 110 CASE engine that was in pieces that went for over 30 thousand dollars !! It’s crazy now!

      Half scales are usually just as much if not more than a full size steam tractor, probably because of the convenience and the fact that they are all homemade

I've been looking into purchasing one for myself, but it seems that all of the websites are either outdated, or none are for sale, you'd think that at least some would be circulating around. None-the-less I was wondering if you could shed some light on this, as I'm starting to lose hope on the pipe dream.

      My uncle left it to me as a gift when he passed. And i spent my whole life around these and i was always interested in them. Aumann Auction is another antique website where people with antique equipment go and sell there stuff, i’ve seen a couple steam engines there the pass few months. Facebook market place has a couple as well. Or going to a threashermens show and asking people and seeing there history’s on the engine, you might be able to find something from one of them.
