I've been a ham for 30 years and picked up my GMRS license a few days ago. I received my RT95 last night thanks to this review. Can't wait to dig into it.

l've been a licensed ham for over 50 years and have purchased hundreds (yes hundreds!) of VHF and UHF rigs. In my opinion this little radio is a great rig with clean output and superb audio both on transmit and receive. -C5FCC

I've had one for three weeks now in the shack. I was skeptical, as it is a rebranded Anytone AT-778UVii , and my previous experiences with Anytone were disasters. But I needed a cheap 25 watt rig for the shack and go box, and thought "why not?" Frankly, I'm amazed at how good it is. TX and RX audio are top shelf. The front end can get overloaded in metro areas, but not as bad as many Chinese rigs. Construction is top notch. It punches above its weight class in both durability and performance. If this was my $400 Yaesu, I might have nitpicks, but for a $100 rig, it's a real bargain.

Band width is the channel spacing; 25K (Wide Band) 20K(Middle Band) 12.5K (Narrow band). Entirely depends on your use case. GMRS has a mix of 20k and 12.5k

I currently have this antenna “Authentic Genuine Nagoya UT-72 Super Loading Coil 20-Inch Magnetic Mount (Heavy Duty) VHF/UHF (144/430Mhz) Antenna PL-259, Includes Additional SMA Adaptor for BTECH and BaoFeng Handheld Radios. Which I use with my DB25G. Will this antenna work with my RT95? TIA. 73!

When you hit P6 for volume and then adjust the knob to the proper volume, will it remember that you hit P6 last or do you have to hit P6 every time you want to adjust the volume? That would seem like a real pain instead of just being able to simply turn a knob every time. Thanks.

    • @MidAtlanticTV

No. You can just add the HAM frequencies.

I just got this radio for my car and love it. However, WHY does the VFO shortcut NOT work if the settings are saved to display channel name? I'd much rather see Channel x, etc instead of the frequently for FRS channels.
If I set it to freq or name, it works fine, but still displays 1-22 as the frequency instead of actual name? Really not a fan of this at all. Any idea what's happening why I can't save as channel name on display if I want to use VFO at all?
