  • The Chilean guitar in Araucania
Relative of Laudes and Mandolinos, the guitar arrived in America in the Spanish colonial period. In La Araucanía, over time, it was dressed in "lingue", "laurel" and "raulí" (noble trees and even more noble woods), and the sonority of the "canelo". René Inostroza, cantor and teller of peasant wisdom and who has popularised, rescued and re-created the "traditional music of the countryside". He introduces us to the world, on the route, of Tocadoras, Cantoras and guitar builders of the Araucanía. They are true archives, depositaries of the peasant culture, capable of handling more than forty "finares" and a score of "toquios". Among them is Don Abel Inostroza who, besides being a talented guitarist and peasant culturist, shows us ancient techniques of popular luthier, using simple and rustic tools to make a typical guitar of the Chilean countryside.
