Great video! I made my own following a similar technique but after the first coat of paint, while still wet, I sprinkled coarse sand on it heavily. I let it dry and added one more coat of paint. This adds a really realistic coral texture that looks great.

I'm 3 years late but considering how corrosive salt can be I would say no. Saltwater tanks are so expensive as it is, I wouldn't risk it.
