    Tom, I agree they look like different players. I agree that the loose tight loose grip will assist. On the forehand he really strikes the ball. As a result, he has learnt to feel the shot better, takes control of the ball and tells it where to go. On the backhand he does not really strike the ball.

    I started choking up a couple inches like Rafa and it helps for stability!

    I like the idea of a bell curve on the grip pressure with starting somewhat loose and then firm then loose again. It seems like you would get a more athletic swing with that concept. I know from the past what a death grip swing looks like.

    Good points. Possibly add strips of lead tape at 3 and 9 o’clock or even the butt of the racquet for stability. Little goes a long way.

    I can only control the racquet head with less grip pressure. More grip pressure less control for me

    Hey Tom, I have this problem where I miss long on my ground strokes. I think it has something to do with my shoulder opening up. Should I be changing my racquet angle on my ground strokes with solely my elbow or forearm or combine my shoulder into the mix? I know it will be hard to explain since you can’t see what I’m doing but it’d be appreciated to have some feedback, thanks!😊

    Ball winning the collision, not the racket. That happens more often on the backhand side, right, Tom? Because back of the forearm is the weaker side. I found having the wrist cocked throughout the stroke helps. What do you think?

    He manages a good backhand volley, when the ball is higher. He struggles when the ball is lower. But i dont know how to fix it. Grip more backhand maybe if it is practicable.

    You need to do what Vic Braden taught me 30 years ago. You must change to the Eastern backhand grip for the backhand volley and use the Eastern forehand grip for the forehand volley. Forget the Continental grip. People will tell you there is no time to change grips. I am only a 4.0 player and I’ve been changing grips for the past 30 years with no problems.

      McEnroe never changed his grip from the continental.

    Mmm… surprised to hear you saying he should grip more.
    If the racket were moving more thru the contact it’d have less deviation/wobble at impact, surely? As far as I can see, he’s coming under the ball too much since his hitting point is too far forward and too much of an open face. More of a ‘mountain top to valley’ racket swing down and an earlier contact point (halfway down the slope) would give stronger under spin and more penetration, apart from reducing the need to ‘grip the racket more’ IMO
