Honestly your drumkits raised my standards for one shot samples. I've been using DTK since Vol6. Thank you.
Maan everytime someone used that siren sounds on their beats it reminds me of dilla, rip to the goat
its a homage to Dilla :)

@@decapmusic where i can get that siren sound ?
Decap is the real deal ❤❤
Shout out to you for giving us all this for free
That rim shot instead of snare is soooo nice
Nothing can match the level of Drums That Knock 🐐❤️🙏🏽
If only I knew this when I was a noob. That would have been a godsend. New producers, DECAP knows his stuff. Listen to him.
before 2 years ago I downloaded his pack from splice. I still use it today. what a legend. big Love brother..
This is crazy mastering! It does not look like a classic chain at all, but the result speaks for itself. Cool!
Hey @decap ! Why not put the utility last in the chain? thanks
Decap, thank you for simple yet powerful tutorials, literally improved my mixing skills
Best yt producer no (de) cap
new follower... cause of "drums that knock" phrase ..-_-... I'm a believer.
For any streaming and lufs correction you should not care about how loud or pushed the mix is, only what sounds good. Everything is played at the same apparant level, so dont turn your loudNESS down (saturation compression limiting) IF it sounds BETTER on, at the same PERCIEVED volume. Levelmatch by ear is similar to lufs, because lufs is based on levelmatching by ear
Exactly, the streaming services loudness normalize everything so you are better off pushing your lufs as hard as you can go without distorting/sounding over compressed to get that aggressive hard hitting sound, even if the overall level is being normalized on the streaming service. Sure, the level is lowered, but the aggressiveness of the sound remains.
^This. Oh, and don't forget your true peak limiter if you aren't bouncing a lossless file :)
yess!
Not really. But I like the attitude. Been overthinking stuff way too long
i struggled to understand this for so long and when i realized it after like 3 days of extensive mastering work the first thing i did was hopped in bed and just went to sleep in defeat
Best tutorial for trap music so far in my opinion
I’ve been so stuck on the Master Chain...buying plugins, downloading presets. Can’t wait to try this out tonight 🤘
The only 3rd party plugins one needs for the master is the Fabfilter's Mastering Bundle.
And maybe Gulfoss😂
Can i just say Thankyou for the way you explained tNice tutorials it made super confident on the journey of making soft.
Any chance you could do an Ableton stock plugin master chain?
What limiter are you using my bro?
DTK IS 🔥🔥
this is what im looking for bro thank you
Thank you thank you thank you!!
those drums are crazy
How come you add the gain before your chain and not after all your master plugins?
I was also wondering this. Thought he would put it at the end. Mabye he wanted to drive the saturation less hard to taste? To get some dynamics back? Not sure..
fruity loops user
i am so confused. i tought you needed some headroom before mastering ? if you could do a mixing tutorial too that would be so awesome too. Loved this video and keep doing you
Cedric St Germain if it sounds good, nothing else really matters. That being said, if you don't want ur sounds distorted and clipped you should probably give it a bit of headroom
U def should have headroom. He says theres 6db clipping then its not clipping after the chain but that could be because of limiting lmao so its still clipping. But yeah if it sounds good fuck it 🤷♂️
I do everything at low levels and carefully saturate and eq my tracks if I have to. I also use parallel compression a lot to get hard drums that don't clip. Before I master I'm usually around -6 on the master and sometimes -3 at most. The parallel compression and saturation creates the perception for a louder track. (edit: i simplified this alot of course its not just parallel compression and saturation but i use those often)
Mind telling me how you gainstage and level stuffs? I felt like i always level my hihats to loud but when i turn it down i couldn't really hear it
And what's exactly the compressor you're slapping on them drumbuss?
@@ruhmankhalid6675 you should be mixing at a low volume in the first place to make sure to you can tell the difference between big changes and small changes. It's a lot harder to tell when you are blasting your track. When I gainstage I always do it in the plugin that I am using in the first place. I look at the levels before the plugin and then the levels after and match up the numbers (after that I just use my ears to adjust). Note that you can also gainstage using EQ. Sometimes a whole sound isn't too loud but a resonant frequency might be. Or maybe all you need to do is EQ a small area. All in all man just go ham on your drums and then turn your monitors down and level them (dont care about if they are in the red because you can just turn them down.) If you want the clipping from the red them youll have to bounce the track out as it is clipping and then send it into another plugin and lower the output to maintain the sound. I like clip my kicks with the IK Multimedia Soft Clipper. Sometimes I'll have them clip in the daw, bounce them and then put on the IK Multimedia Soft Clipper which allows me to have the exaggerated effect of clipping while keeping my sounds at low levels. (Keep in mind you it works well with 32-bit wavs very well). On the drum buss I use SSL E-Channel, SSL G-Master Buss Compressor, or the Renaissance Compressor (all according to taste). Maybe even the CLA-76.
@@ruhmankhalid6675 Also your compression ratios and attack could also be what is making the hi hats sound so inconsistent to you.
@@zaytoolitty ayo man thanks for your time n input, appreciate it
So in what range should the volume per instruments/channel be when i start mixing? Again thanks G
@@ruhmankhalid6675 i mix as i create because the stereo imaging and spacing is part of the way i visualize things in my head before i mix. i usually have my claps pop and level them around -6 and build around it. from there just use your ears. use your ears. use your ears.
Man, I use to make beats before youtube was created. Realized I have lots to learn. Overwhelming sometimes. Don't know where to start
Yeah man you really knocking
hi decap but is that loudness plug in penalty accurate?
Why don't you use the Gullfoss master version? And why is there no limiter on the master?
Thank you sir!!!Can you make video about fl mixing please?
Re: PITCHING TO ARTIST beats (hard-hitting): Do you PREFER to have the master clipping before adding your final chain? (Does pushing that extra hot signal into the master chain plugins help you achieve this)?
I know other people wanna know this too...nah?
I like to push the individual tracks but leave room in the master. Usually I'll only allow my drum track to clip. Soft clip on saturator or glue compressor works wonders. Also check the plugin FreeClip, you can get some nice clipping from there while keeping your levels in check.
Matter of taste.
He can clip into his master cause the internal processing (no conversion from digital to analog) works at such high bit-rates that clipping in the way of red=bad is inexistant. Headroom is unlimited as long as you don't perform DA-conversion (e.g. play track on speakers) or export your track.
How loud a signal goes into a plugin is something different.
Most plugins (check manual) work "as intended" at '-18 dBFS RMS' and '-6 dBFS Peak', which translates into the analogue realm as "ass-melting-hot".
So generally -6/-18 is the hottest that you should go into any plugin. In a chain with compressors and stuff where your level changes after each plugin, you have to measure and adjust gain after every plugin, if you want to ensure to use them as intended.
If you go hotter into a plugin, you might get weird and unexpected artifacts, which you might like!
Some people indeed do this, to get a special sound out of a plugin.
I don't think anybody knows what's up anymore, try for yourself and note your findings, there is hardly a no-go anymore.
I hope that was helpful, if you got more questions ask me.
All the best, Bro!
@@80sfan61 nahh man just feed that +14 db signal into saturator its all good the sound of broken diaphragms is what the youth want nowadays
WNice tutorialch version do you use to get all the setup and polyphonic softs?
Dope tutorials bro !! 🙂 🙏
What do u use utility plugin for?😇
Appreciate what you are doing 🙏🙏🙏
Starts watcNice tutorialng video
People need to understand what tools are needed and a tutorial
simple yet very effective, nice
with mine matches Analog app 1 TE (click on box next to program to change them.)
You can give some advice about "master saturation" on FL ? (pretty dope tips by the way)
SHEEEESH 🔥
🚀🚀🚀🚀
is softclipper the same as a compressor? and do you always compress the master? dont you use compressor on the drums, bass etc before the master chain?
you are the man, been using your samples for a while. didnt realise you had vol9 on splice, thankyou!;)
if you would have used the glue compressor as well, would you switch off the soft clipper from the saturator and use the one from the glue compressor, or use both?
Yo Decap, love the work you're putting in man! Any chance you need an intern or assistant engineer?
man im clippin every day wtf. why didnt i know this
Would you sent out beats to artists mastered loud like this or consider giving them a version with more headroom? Because if you just put the gain down on the wav/mp3 you will get a very squashed beat that later on gets turned up again with limiter/clipper or no? Would love to hear your take. Thank you for all your videos!
Man what gems!
yo guys when you send beats to an artist, how loud are they? I usually send them at -8 lufs, with a mastering chain that makes them sound pretty finished (a little multiband compression, limiter, etc. ) so that they resemble what the finished product will sound like, and when i send the wavs for the artist to record over, i turn my whole mastering chain off. What do you think? (Ps: should i turn my whole mastering chain off when i send it out, or just the heavy compression and the limiter? )
Great content as always Decap. For a beat u would sell on a beatstore, what is the max -LUFS u would want to hit? For an artist to record over a beat without the trackouts.
anything between +18 db to +387 dB LUFS above 0 should be great really
here any of the notes i click on. Any idea why? (I'm a beginner)
I used to be doing things with ozone but nowadays my master is often just saturator and multiband. all the eq stuff is supposed to happen during mixing so my master looks quite empty.
On a second note, I am wondering why you have the saturator behind ozone, as ozone will be taking all the fun peaks out that would otherwise give you that fat saturation sound.
Try having the saturator in the first insert and let the kick redline to make it clip with the high end parts of the beat.
@@drkastenbrot He was only using Ozone as an exciter, nothing else (no compression or limiting).
@@Kidsoftheforestlivesagain Well I should probably watched the entire video. Thanks for clarifying.
Can anyone turn this into a preset like how they did on Kenny Beats Master Chain?
Big up decap
what do you use the sp404 for?
Shouldn't you turn down the volume AFTER the master chain to avoid any changes within the chain's processing? Like, if you turn it down too much, how are you gonna hit the limiter?
yeah you’re right
well that took more than 2 clicks...
I also really appreciate if the author make a video about UnsetupIt, an app that can isolate or remove softs from a . TNice tutorials app is really
Also, what about Dither? ? ?
does that mean he did not gain staged all the sounds ?
Your style is always gunna be different & thats me , differenttttttt 💪🏾
The poly rhythms in this are swinging. That's what makes beats interesting. Call and response.
with Ableton, soft One, Cubase and Logic and my idea about soft is why make tNice tutorialngs unlogic and difficult it it can be done easy. But
Please do a FL STUDIO on how to mix your drumkits 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿💯
The same way
Eric Bridge do you know it’s na? Pure curiosity lmao
beat brazyyyyy
Aweso tutorial but I dont have a snare anywhere on my list. Wtf
Thank you for the free game.
cap said fuck gain staging lol 🐐
is there a free alternative to that loudness penalty plugin?
youlean loudness meter 2. It won't tell you how much you'll get turned down but you can guess it based on the measurements the plugin offers you
Breh this beat
This tutorial is good but it’s more for people who know 98% of the process already. But damn this beat…..KNOCKS!!!!! Pun intended!!!
is no one gonna to notice that how he is wearing Nice tutorials headphone?(Rip Gramr)
Wait Spotify doesn't like loud music?
feed clipped signal into master track then add saturator at 100% on the whole mix 🤣 OMG SERRR WIKKED BEATZ . i'm aware that alot of myth from the analog era still resides, people think gain levels matter which they dont really, but still looks hella noob what you are doing and there isnt really any reason to do it, though i respect your process and preferences. I know aviicii also liked to go really red. seems like a typical fruity loops user behavior. I know clipping can be a wanted effect but im not sure you are aware that you are clipping
and sa tNice tutorialng other way around
Bro the song doesnt knock..... IT DESTROYS
Yeah baby you make Ableton look SEXY
t a b l a
Please. What the actual f*** is that intro song... 😲
Why put all the midis in different tracks instead of just in a drum rack!
shouldn’t it be -6dB before master lol
The most generic and cheesy beat I’ve ever heard
Yeah but what if you have vocals recording on your track to mix the same time as your beat? Are you going to still use a Saturater?
