Dreamcast is the clear winner overall, especially in terms of sharpness and framerate, but the PSP version still deserves major kudos as an excellent port to a system with lesser horsepower. It still looks and plays like a home-console Crazy Taxi, and that's an accomplishment given the era and the tech.

@@more7642 It also depends what type of hardware it is too. The Dreamcast hardware was made to make 3D graphics better & easier + fixing the major problems from Sega's previous console The Sega Saturn which was tedious to work with. Despite the Dreamcast having MUCH inferior hardware than the PS2/PSP. The games however do look just as good if not better than their PS2 counterparts & I believe that's because the PS2's hardware was also hard to work with. Not as bad as the PS3, Saturn, or Jaguar's. but devs had complained & I think Sony did it on purpose to give developers a challenge. idk if PSP's hardware was any better but it was a beefy portable system for it's time.
@@Mr.Atari2600 It should be noted that the high polygon counts Sony claimed for PS2 and PSP are an on paper number that you'd almost never come close to in a real game. It's only possible if you disable all textures, shading, lighting and any other effects. Jak 2 is a more realistic benchmark, some of the highest poly counts on the system but still only in the range of 8-10 million per second max. By comparison, Nintendo claimed the much more powerful Gamecube could do up to 12 million polys per second. This was a more realistic claim as it included textures and a full range of the GPU's effects applied. Factor 5 even got it to 20 mil with their Rogue Squadron games by offloading some of the rendering onto the Gekko CPU (which incidentally was only a 32bit cpu but beat the pants off of DC and PS2, even giving Xbox's a run for its money). PSP was stronger than DC but weaker than PS2, certainly a very powerful handheld for its time. I've never heard anyone say it was difficult to develop for. Both versions are very close. The Dreamcast version has an obvious advantage in texture resolution and in my eyes it runs better, but it's close. The PSP does have some modernized addition in two aspects. One being the draw distance is more of a fade in while on the Dreamcast it's a normal pop in. Another is that the car texture on PSP uses some tricks with the lightning to give it a more reflective look to emphasize the glossy look of the car surface. I also noticed that at 4:12 it seems like the physics are different between the two version in the way the boxes interact with the car. Despite this I think the Dreamcast version still comes out on top because the PSP version seems to be stretched which ruins a lot of the original visuals. I would hope there's a 4:3 setting in the options.
