Clearly explained, thanks :) But how do you know the dimensions of the panel you're looking to replace..? I have an Akai S3200 and would like to replace the EL panel, but I have no idea which one to pick .. you mentioned the pink one because it's brighter, but that still leaves a few possibilities :)
The shop where I ordered one had them already in the right size. But you can pick a larger one and easily cut it to the size that fits. These are the dimensions from the EL panel I ordered: (LxWxH): 40mm x 132mm x 0.33mm.
Hi, Never seen a EL-backlight in orange, but you might find some Led-type replacement displays in different colors on Ebay. They're more expensive. In that case maybe better to buy a secondhand S3000XL with good display. :-) They have several pink EL-replacements available at Backlight4you.com. For the S3000XL I've used a blue one first (low contrast) and preferred a pink one (better contrast).
@Ronald Wijnands thank you for the heads up about this place.. I have all kind of gear that is or has faded out.. you saved the day thank you so much very much appreciated
Ronald, I have a question, I replaced myy backlight about a year ago and It was fine until last week while using the unit it just switched off the backlight.. it didnt dim over time or anything. I cant hear an inverter either but cant be sure, Is there a simple test I can do to see whats wrong?
if you still can see some characters on the lcd (with help of some external light), I suspect the inverter is defective and needs to be replaced. Also, normally the inverter should make some noise when the backlight is turned on.
@@ronaldwijnands3083 Yes I can see characters still.. and no I cant hear any distinguishable noise when turning on the unit.. DAMN!! How would I go about replacing an inverter Ronald? Have you any idea mate? PS: Thanks for any info, I appreciate your time responding to me :)
Bedankt man, super oplossing en prima walkthrough !!
I found a site called "backlight4you" and they seem to have backlights for all kinds of gear
Yes, that's the site where I ordered backlights for the samplers.
