ROBIN Gemmell It wasn’t originally meant to go that far, the problem is a surgeon did a bad lip job on him and they were practically falling apart and leaking. Every other surgeon then suggested lip amputation. He went bankrupt and sold his house just to have them fixed, then after he had them fixed he still needed to have surgeries just to pretty much maintain his face and he probably got addicted. He did eventually win the lawsuit against the original surgeon who messed up his lips but Pete always said he hopes they fucking die.

This band had many hits all over the world. This song as well as one or two others were hits in the U.S. And they had many more in their homeland of Europe as well as all the surrounding countries. Not to mention Japan. Success isn't just measured in American standards. And it doesn't always matter if songs are a hit right away...what matters is if they gain popularity over time and if they are still around, heard, and acknowledged decades later.
Burns has said that the success of “You Spin Me Round” in America happened completely outside of any real promotional effort from the band, that it was completely organic.
I love Pete's accent, and how excited and genuine he becomes when discussing music. Not really a fan of the music after Youthquake, but I give him serious props.

The amazing thing is that Pete now looks like Cher with larger cheekbones. Still Love him so Damn much though... and I always loved the fact that THE VOICE... AKA Luther Vandross inspired DOA's biggest hit!
the demo version sounds like a "Dance Mix" of a song that would have been on "Sophisticated Boom Boom" it's very nice that they decided to take the Hi-NRG sound to create this iconic masterpiece!!!!!
Somebody should alert the lost media community about the demo version at 2:10. The full version hopefully is still somewhere, whether it's allowed to be made public is another matter, but we need to at least TRY!
What a fantastic pop record from the mid 80s. Unashamed out and out pop dance magnificence. Unfortunately Pete and the band were unable to sustain their hit making career while other SAW artists went on to have stellar careers. You Spin me Round is one of those records that help define an era in pop music.
I’m very sad watching Pete Burns here…..such a good looking man, and then falling prey to plastic surgery…those lips were a disaster bless him. I like the fact that Pete (Burns) admitted that he riff'd off the Luther Vandross track. It's rare that songwriters are so honest.
he was also honest about being in big brother just for the money. besides his persona you can love him because of his honesty
Agree. 🎶🎵🎼

I think the message in this song as compared to "Brand New Lover" has something to do with it, otherwise that one is right up there as well.
This song was ahead of its time. I dominated gyms and health clubs in America, aerobics classes especially. It stood out above the rest.

4:36 good to see he finally appreciated the song, I know he resented it for a long time because he wanted to move on in life.
I'm sure he didn't resent the royalties.
Timeless song. Just great all 'round. Anyone who says they don't like it or have never sang to it...... are lying!
