The History of Jack McGee from the Incredible Hulk TV Series

  • In this video we take a look at the history and story of the Incredible Hulk’s determined antagonist, Jack McGee from the popular TV series starring Jack Colvin as McGee, Bill Bixby as David Banner, and Lou Ferrigno as the Incredible Hulk. What was his motivation? Did he really want to help the Hulk or the man who becomes the creature or was it all just about McGee’s career? Should David Banner have trusted him?
I follow McGee’s biggest highlights from the pilot episode and until the end including the times McGee came the closest to discovering David Banner was still alive.
Jack McGee worked for the newspaper the National Register and hounded the Hulk most of the series even appearing on the first TV movie the Return of the Incredible Hulk before disappearing from the TV movies to follow.
I also talk a little bit about the connection between the Six Million Dollar Man and the Incredible Hulk series including Jack Colvin's past connection to the show a connection shared by Hulk series developer Kenneth Johnson.
You can get the Hulk on DVD and support the channel by ordering the complete series from Amazon on my affiliate link where I get a small commission. Thanks - amzn.to/3zyYGeE

Jack Colvin suffered a stroke after the filming after the filming of The Incredible Hulk Returns, and was never seen again, although I would have loved to see his face when he sees the Hulk lying on the runway after being blown out of the plane, and changing back to Banner for the last time before he dies.

Jack Colvin was a good, reapected actor...he brought a lot to the role of Jack McGee. I remember in Prometheus, when he's trying to convince Monte Markham's character not to corner the Hulk. He said something to the effect "if your men go charging in there like the 1st 8 bars of Tiger Rag, he'll tear this place apart!" A comical line, but i loved the delivery of it! RIP John Colvin

Thank you for putting this together for IH fans like myself, who have enjoyed the series. One note, I was able to watch the entire IH TV series for free through the IMDB app and the Sci Fi app, with the IMDB being the better option. A few additions, the Jack McGee character's last appearance on the IH series was in season 5, the final abbreviated series' episode "Triangle", with Charles Napier making his second appearance in the IH series (and him being the voice/growl of the Hulk) and Mickey Jones making his third appearance in the IH series. Coincidently, this "Triangle" episode was also one of the few that had a love interest character for the the David Banner character. I agree with many fans, that I wish the series was able to resolve the many plots issues relating to the IH, and I did not care for the 3 post series IH movies, which came across as comic-book drive, and abandoned the successful formula of Kenneth Johnson and his staff. There used to be a great IH series website that really went into great detail on the IH series, as a whole.

He should've appeared in the Death of the Hulk & finally seen David Banner before a dramatic death... A poetic, if tragic, end. His character deserved a solid ending, great character 🧟‍♂️

Since Kenneth Johnson didn't fully want to copy the comics, it would seem that instead of General Ross hounding the Hulk,we get a character who hounds the Hulk in a slightly different capacity. Clearly, he resembles Ross in this way, albeit Ross knows who the Hulk is at some point in time. Jack would, unfortunately, never get to know who the identity of the Hulk really was. I guess they didn't want to continue with the character by the time the second and third movie. Had he stuck around, perhaps the third movie he'd find out and write about it in Banners death. That would have been an interesting conclusion of the series. To see the article saying David Banner never died years ago, he was the Hulk the entire time, and now is at rest at last,or is he. I say that because of what might have been a fourth movie had Bill Bixby not passed away with the talks about a fourth movie.
