the thing with Junji ito's work is that is doesn't give you a sense of fear or thing like that, it's more to the feeling of uneasy, uncomfortable.... like there's no danger, just that feeling like you need to protect yourself from something
I am literally shltting my pants right now, the story with the holes in the mountain scared so f ing bad, there's another story about a man living in a woman's chair
For the Enigma of Amigara Fault I think the people going in are coming out as the monsters, thinking they’re so perfectly shaped to fit in the hole that they don’t even realized they’re being crushed, pulled, and shaped by the hole changing. Since they have the sensation to keep going, they don’t even think to go out. They will come out as these horrible, long lines of human flesh, bones, teeth, and organs, just to think they fit perfectly. Edit, 2 months: 1K!? omg thank you so much!
Yep, you’re right. The origin of the holes was that 1000s of years ago, an ancient civilization dug human holes as punishments for criminals. They were forced in, and they could not go out. The reason being, the holes were specifically designed so that with each movement, you only went forward. Anyways eventually, as you keep going forward and forward, the human like hole starts to disfigure into the weird shapes you saw. The people are in fact aware, and they can feel every single part of their body being stretched in inhumanly ways.
@@averagegummywormfan I don't really recommend watching tale foundry,I watched one of his videos and most of it was just some type of rolpleay story, instead of telling stories he's making his own and that bothers me a little
@@toiletjenny333 I saw that tale foundry video about this and it was good, tho. Their explanation put things in perspective as they saw it as an analogy of how people think they found the right path for them (in career or relationships) only to end up being stuck on that path and the incapability to turn back from those decisions. Something along those lines 💁♀️
The Enigma of Amigara Fault is one of the most traumatizing one-shot mangas ever. Imagine going to Amigara Fault just to discover that a hole that is shaped like your body was waiting for you, urging you to go in it. But once you get in, the hole suddenly starts distorting to the point where it makes your own body parts twist and turn with the direction of the hole. Then at the end of the hole, you are nothing but a distorted abomination.
The ending of "Enigma of Amigara Fault" actually got me, Humans slipping through holes made only for them and will not resist to go through to the end, only for that to mutilate them as the other side of the tunnel becomes more and more wicked but through the drive to go through the whole way they mutilate themselves.
Omg the human beings probably thought it was made just for them, something to be special of or they probably thought it'll shape their bodies into something miraculous until it started squeezing smaller and smaller, into irrelevant shapes...
I don't find his manga's scary at all. They are just fascinating to me. I saw a meme that perfectly sums up his artwork. "I came looking for copper....but what the fuck is this!"😂😂
Thats exactly my reaction, i love the man tho Mr.Ito just chillin and create this story just make me wonder what in his mind even thought i probably shouldnt ask that question
Learning how messed up the stories that Junji Ito made just make me wondering is he a genius or a menace to society🥲but still he's the idol of horror/disturbing comic author
@0:50 thank you for the trypophobia warning. Immediately pressed pause. Although it could’ve come a little earlier when he was squeezing his oil clustered face 😅
I don't find most of Junji Ito's work scary, more like disturbing. Except for the one with the woman in the window next door. That one was nightmare fuel for me
i love reading a lot, the novels were great but when I stumbled upon Junjis manga I never looked back. its exactly what i had been missing. I love how out of this world they are, how absolutely bizarre and "what-the-hell-have-I-just-read" they are.
I've seen enough "transformation" and "mind break" genre of umm.. "you-know-it" to see that Slug Girl as an interesting story more than it is disturbing. But yeah that would be disturbing if I imagine it happened in real life though, it's a good thing that it's manga-styled and beside of her tongue turns into a slug, nothing really disturbing was drawn on Yuko. Maybe I should try to look more on Junji Ito's works..
"...So his father leaves the house. But as soon as he stepped outside, he saw something he could not believe. He saw 2 other girls who were also at the ice cream bus the day before, but now they're licking themselves." Tomoki's father seeing his house full of a strange, sticky liquid oozing from any spot: *I Sleep* Tomoki's father after seeing two lesbians chilling on the street: *Real Shit?* Ah, yes. Considering how people's reactions are right now, I ought to specify that this is, in fact, a joke.
I mean I've heard Japan can be quite homophobic, as they don't see homosexuality as something that conforms to society and in their eyes, everything is bad that doesn't conform. At least I heard that's how society is built over there
i will never forget the day when i was just normally scrolling on yt shorts and came across the grease scene with no warning whatsoever. Plus, i have trypophobia. The vid legit had no TWs, and i didnt know junji ito, and without warning i had to go to the bathroom and almost threw up. Im fine with any other one of his stories, just not the pimple one. I got a little bit of a pimple phobia after that.
I feel kinda proud that ive read all of these she mentioned.. Also i wish Silentl Hill PT would actually become a reality, since junji ito and Guillermo del Toro was associated with tht game, it could've been the scariest game everrrr made 😢
Every time I read a Junji Ito comic, I feel like I'm trapped in an Iron Maiden full of Giant centipedes. Amigara falls is the most terrifying story I've ever read. I read it like 7 to 10 years ago and I still remember it vividly.
The Enigma of Amigara Fault is actually humans making the hole. Its not for those people who fits it perfectly, its for the humans who had done something bad or wrong many many manyyy years ago for punishment
Theories 1.Oil is highly addictive to drink, it acts as trigger to the brain which means they keep you coming back for more. 2.Slugs can grow their body parts back so when she ate a sea meal, she mustve eaten a still-alive slug that has grown and taken over her body. 3.The holes must've been there for thousands of years maybe even millions, and they might have been used for torturing but it got so addicting that people started to go in. They didnt get a sense of it anymore since it was covered up. 4.Sounds smth like Ice-Scream
maybe the enigma at amigara fault is an allegory about social relation like we want to be part of like community or people but end up awkward and cringe and found ourself become less true to ourself

Yeah i tried reading it and wasn't really scared but couldn't get past 50 because they were just really gross and a lot of it looked uncomfortable
