    Would be great if it actually had 6 notes of polyphony instead of 4. Really kills the vibe when you're trying to play something written on a real Juno 60, but the notes cut off abruptly because it doesn't have the same polyphony. We considered one of these for touring (back when people traveled and played music in rooms full of people) so we wouldn't have to take the real Juno 60, but it just wasn't up to the job.

    Sounds good, wish it was a full size 61 key version. Only 4 voice polyphony from a digital synthesizer? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

    Can’t knock it. Had both the 60 and 106, not my favourite synths, but Roland has nailed it here. Even the noise when chorus is enabled is there(and you can still choose to turn it off like the ju06 did) so yeah. I bought one and integrated it into my studio. It does the job the junos were supposed to do. So I’m happy👊🏼🎶

    I wonder how this will hold up against the actual Juno-60. The JU-06 sounds pretty close to the 106, but the 60 is something else. Seems interesting though!

    I had a Juno 6 back in the day which I regret selling. Went in and demo'ed this new emulation and it had the richness and beef of the original Juno lacking in the 106. The four voice limit is a downer but with a DAW I can compensate for that. Considering you get two outstanding synth emulations for the price I didn't hesitate to order. Arrives in Nov here in Oz,. Xmas comes early this year, can't wait !

    • @gershon2481

      It would work with any midi keyboard if the keyboard has a 5-pin midi output. If the keyboard only has a USB midi port, you will likely need a USB midi host. I picked up a midiplus USB midi host for around $55 for this very purpose. As everyone says, the JU-06A only has four voice polyphony, so you can only use four keys on that 61 key keyboard at a time with the JU-06A. Deal breaker? I don't know. Chords are nice.

    Why oh why Roland? WHY?! ffs why can the external clock in on the JU-06a work with the step sequencer but NOT the ARPEGIATOR? Why? are you nuts? The SH-01a ext clock works with arp & sequencer. The Original Juno 6, Juno 60, Jupiter 4, 6 & 8, the SH-101, all of these had arpegiators that clock synced via the external clock in via a drum machine trigger. Why build in a arpeggiator section that is hugely prominent on the front panel and the marketing, then build an external clk input, and not use in for the arp. Utter insanity. I want an answer. Anyone got an answer for me?

      The Jupiter X/Xm use the new "ABM" engine, which is a less powerful and less accurate engine than ACB. The reason? Roland wanted an engine that would use much less processing power so they could get more voices. This is from the mouth of Roland's president in 2019.

    • @st0rmchild
      @st0rmchild 5 лет назад +1

      @David Chatterton Voice count absolutely does mean the number of notes you can play simultaneously, and is not strictly related to multitimbrality. Each "voice" of a synth is basically a copy of the entire synth (with the exception of global modulation sources like the LFO). For example, a six voice, two oscillator synth actually has 12 oscillators - two oscillators per voice. The term "voice" itself simply refers to the number of instances of the sound engine (whether they support multitimbrality or not).

    • @jptaylor

Costs a lot more than that, because it does a lot more than that, but I don't know why you'd want a box that can only sound like a Juno-106/60 when the same DSP chips can also run the Jupiter-8 and JX-3P emulations, not to mention the modern System-8 engine.

      I'm a total Roland fanboy and have no interest in Behringer stuff whatsoever, but I really, really wish they could have managed six voices. I would have bought it on day one. I understand the technical limitations - four voices is all they can manage with a single BMC chip, and adding a second one would both increase the price and make it require a power adapter, which makes it not portable. Still a bummer though. Don't get me wrong, you can still do a lot with this, and it sounds amazing, but I love to play five- and six-note chords.

      You can't make an analog synth that emulates other synths. You can only try to copy a specific synth, and then it will only sound like that synth. They do have a flagship synth that emulates the classics - it's called the System-8. Sounds amazing. Check it out.
      For those who want actual analog, the JD-XA has four analog voices, and the SE-02 and System-500 are fully analog.
