Keep the work up! I’m currently in army cadets and I’m going to a camp in November and it’s in Pirbright so I’m looking forward to it! + I want to join the British Army when I’m older
@@Clipsforyou-np3hz Same as the army mine is rifles we do fun stuff you have to keep with it a couple months but it will fly by I am 9 months in and have got hands on with the SA80 about 4 mornings 7 hours a time on the weekends and should be doing more the next two months plus firing blanks in june It’s brilliant👍👍
you would be surprised.. I got out in 98 and felt exactly the same until Covid hit. I spent 7 month getting my arse into gear while work was quiet by started running and tabbing all over the Yorkshire moors. Lost 20kg and archived a 9:17 minutes for the mile and half which wasn't bad for 54 🙂
Thanks, glad you liked it! Yeah that’s something I can look at doing but potentially during leave. I’ve got quite abit coming up between now and then which will lead me to have a very irregular one. Sept would of be fine but Oct & NoV are pretty busy now but leave it with me.
I'm ruck/running a half marathon for charity in May 2025, I will be 59 then and looking at this wondering what I've let myself in for. 15KG on my back, planning to grab drinks on route to save on weight.
It’s all fun and games! I’d say having light snacks on you would potentially see you through a half marathon distance. As long as you’re slowly consuming and not waiting until the hungry feeling, you should be fine from an energy fuelling point of view. Great challenge and good luck with your training and prep.
Cramps I eliminate by taking on plenty of fluids Before and after electrolyte During - water No food, perhaps a banana or two for ease of digestion and rapid absorption.
No problems at all! I just drive the feet, natural body movement would have the arms moving back and forward. Easy to achieve with no weapon but yet when you have a weapon you can only swing left to right across the body. Personally I don’t think that creates momentum as it’s not the bodies natural motion (plane of movement) when walking. Hills just generally aren’t pleasant,so I just keep eyes on the top and keep moving. A good program focusing on strength, flexibility, balance and endurance builds the body to feel comfortable during tabs/rucks.
@@Rangermedia Good to know & the differences in training approaches to the same & similar obstacles within the British Armed Forces is really rather distinct so thank you for this insight! Yes going for a mosey up a hill is definitely on the endurance stamina spectrum of strength & conditioning: also with heavy weights it is more taxing on the C.N.S so best to build up gradually & do heavy rucks every few weeks e.g. 70kg once a fortnight & lighter rucks in-between e.g. 10-40 kg if you have the luxury of having an option in the armed forces: if not suck it up soldier as you are doing brilliantly :::))

Go to run. Think it’s then hold the top right button then that should bring up more in-depth settings. Add a target, for these style of events I add the distance and pass time of the event. Whilst your running it will show you if your behind or ahead of your target and by how much.

Depends on role and which assessment. 22kg is for most tests but you won’t be expected to conduct anything with that weight until you’ve been through the conditioning weeks in Basic.
Yes it’s a Pcoy test, my battalion are in 16 Brigade along with 2,3PARA & Gurkhas battalions. So this test along with one more has be brought into the Royal Irish Regiment. Soldiers will do it in unit and not in Basic training. This is to qualify them to deploy on operations.
@@Bpd0177 no, if your are going on to Pcoy and not PARA Reg, your unit puts you through a pre-selection phase then a build up training phase before you head on P-coy. I think this is how it is now off the top of my head, so not the pre-para down at Pirbright before P-coy in catterick. I also heard whispers that P-coy is moving away from Catterick and going to Warminster. I’m not sure how legit that is though.

Time limit used to be 100 minutes (1980's) and that was the maximum cutoff - we were expected to do it in less..... :) Also, if possible, at least half a mile of the course would be cross-country (no roads/paths). Fun times!

All good with the roads here, there are multiple signs outs (Red+white) dictating “Marching troops have priority” I’ve tabbed/rucked these exact routes for 17years weekly, some sides of the road you need to be on the same side as flowing traffic to see around blind bends. These arnt busy main roads
