You nailed it Joe. So bad it’s good! A highly entertaining movie. I found the main actress very attractive. The movie freaked me out on a few fronts when I first saw it as a kid. You never saw that amount of blood, albeit black and white blood, on TV back in the day. The freak behind bars was scary for effects and make up done on the cheap. And the final scene with the head in the pan laughing maniacally as the flames crept up all around her was chilling to a 7 year old kid. Yep, a bit of nightmare fuel right there! Thanks for the fun review. That surgeon did pick out some doozies to graft his girlfriend’s head on to!
In the genre of pan-bound-heads flicks, this is absolutely the Number One attraction!! I still can't believe the movie was ignored by the Oscars in the categories of screenplay, direction, and set design. But the most glaring omission is the failure to recognize Miss Leith in the category of Best Actress in a Performance Given Without Benefit of a Torso. However, one thing must be said about Miss Leith and her beautifully realized portrayal of Jan in the Pan: Her makeup was impeccable. Just imagine a woman surviving an unexpected head severance, not to mention many other discomforts, and ending up with every single eyelash in place and plenty of lipstick and face powder as well. Such shocking realism! I have the same Synapse release you have, and this is one I can watch again and again.
Sounds right up our alley Joe .. already onto it. love your profile pic on after dark, would like to see you do the horror reviews with white face powder, candles, thunder claps etc .. perhaps asking too much, think of the views !!!
Let me know what you think of the movie. Yeah, I wish I had another room or something where I could properly decorate a "horror set". Hopefully in the next place I move into.
hi joe, i have this movie also and always liked it because of the cheesy presentation and production! i thought it was a lot of fun for what it was and did entertain me. i always thought it was worth watching. thanks for sharing, take care, rob
Why don't these reviewers of this pos ever mention the most obvious absurdity of the movie's premise: That without the ability to breathe, the head would not be able to talk?
"Starring the always lovely and vivacious head of Kitty Carlisle!"

LOL! Thanks, Mike.
Sorry, but in my head cannon (pun intended), “Re-Animator” won head-in-the pan genre.
This is a fun one. My mother used to talk about this. I think I fist saw it on MST3K, but I’ve seen it clean since.
Thanks joe for the recommendation. There is a coloured version of it on you tube to

Because it's supposed to be mindless fun. You don't analyze.
