This video coincides with the release of my new book "Primitive technology", which releases exactly 4 years and 6 months since my first video post on this channel. This video compilation, as well as the book, outlines all the skills and achievements I've attained in this time period using research, hard work and trial and error. Writing this book is something I wanted to do even before making videos and launching this channel. I wanted to offer something tangible that benefited those who had the same keen interest in primitive technology as I do. With that, I thank each and every one of you for your continued support throughout the years, and I really hope you enjoy the book. You can pre-order here: po.st/PrimTechBook

About Primitive Technology:
Primitive technology is a hobby where you build things in the wild completely from scratch using no modern tools or materials. These are the strict rules: If you want a fire, use a fire stick - An axe, pick up a stone and shape it - A hut, build one from trees, mud, rocks etc. The challenge is seeing how far you can go without utilizing modern technology. I do not live in the wild, but enjoy building shelter, tools, and more, only utilizing natural materials. To find specific videos, visit my playlist tab for building videos focused on pyrotechnology, shelter, weapons, food & agriculture, tools & machines, and weaving & fiber. Наука
Guy made an actual printer out of wood, rocks and dirt.
Now he's selling books, what a legend.
Best part is that it doesn't ask for color ink when you're printing in black and white
still waiting on the video about how he made the camera xD
Im pretty sure every copy is handwritten though
Yes but I'm waiting for him to make the real leap to civilization. Beer.
not using technology but producing technologically advanced hands. so amazing.
Approaching 10 million subs and yet not once has he asked us to “smash the subscribe button”
Not like the "average youtuber" we all see every day
when passion & talent above 💰
Well said Brian !
he did it indirectly , he invented his own body language during the video, asking you to "smash like button and subscribe" 1:12

Because of this guy, I have atleast one fort at all of my family member's houses (at the farms and in the woods) that I built with my brother and my friend. I'm currently building a shelter in the woods next to my house using mud brick and whatever else I can manage to build with. He is such an inspiration and I remember when I first watched his videos, I was amazed at how 1 man can do all of this with the least amount of technology possible. Been with the channel for 6 years now. Much love and respect
so you have alot of clay in ypur soil where you live?
@@sarahs7253 Yup. The soil at my house in mostly red clay and in other places its usually a combination of other clays and dirt

This man got the diamond play button without saying a word. And only in a few years. Legend.
It seems like everyone, including me, missed the giant grass pants episode.
I remember the weaving episode. The pants must have been unused footage from that video.
It's cute but effectively it would have been better to make himself a rain cape and rain hat like the Haida Gwai and Tlingit natives.

@@SuperSMT You must be right. I remember that episode too but I know for a fact I've never seen those pants. I'll remember those for the rest of my life 😂

serious pants, serious face 😁
This guy changes the whole RUclips community without saying anything.
Yeah, remarkable.
But I noticed that the "fads" died away, so I wonder what's next for him. Will he start a big "serious" project, a culmination of these years putting everything on practice into something big and more "definitive"?
@@deathdoor isn't writing a book about everything he learnt while doing this what you could call definitive and a culmination of at least this four years?
Yeah, he did. However, the people ripping him off are not as good as he is. Most of the things they build would end up hurting/killing you.
OTHER PRIMITIVE CHANNELS: "Ooooo! Look at me, building a primitive underground mansion with a waterfall swimming pool and spike traps for home defense."
ME: "Yeah, that's nice......until you get a good down-pour of rain. Then, you can drown in your primitive mansion; or, get crushed when the rains causes the whole thing to collapse down on you. Also, your 'swimming pool' will act like a breeding ground for mosquitoes...soooooo, would you like to malaria much?"
It seems like the only things they're building are primitive graves for themselves. Which is why I like this guy; he's grounded and down-to-Earth about the things he builds.

My favorite part about this channel is the weird window it gives you to the life style and mindset of early humans. How functionality and efficacy were THE deciding factors on how a lot of this stuff was made and thus how it looks.
John is one of the RUclipsrs who never force anyone to subscribe to his channel. It's amazing that he can make so much stuff from scratch! Keep up the good work, John. (after corona)
Not to detract from your comment because I totally agree but why after Corona? What he's doing is seemingly out on his own, no risk of transmission which was the concern back then
There's no need to be forced by John. We are forced by our inner nature :)
@@JoshuaMcTackett If only politicians thought like that, we'd live much happier lives. 4 years ago: Primitive Technology starts on RUclips
4 years later: Tons of copycat channels trying to profit off the content John created.
He himself has said he doesn't own the "primitive technology" term or concept, and that he's happy to see interest in the hobby spreading.
He's the only one I watch, though.
I don't know why everybody's so up in arms about this. At worst, it's free advertising as the algorithm will start recommending his videos to people who watch other primitive technology channels.
and they're all like just making a secret swimming pool.
Yea especially those Thai or Cambodian guys, always labelling their video with primitive technology and even wearing black shorts. Tons of them.
