If she ever reads this - Thanks Jen for putting yourself out there to make this movie. I never imagined the stuff created back then would still bring so much enjoyment to all of us still decades later. And like with the Hysteria song, we made things back then only thinking of then. It's incredible that it's still so good now. And popping up in Top Gun 2 was fantastic.
I knew I would miss the 80’s but I didn’t think I would miss it as much as I do. Growing up in that era was the most genuine and real I’ve ever felt in my life. No texting no email no social media. Everything came from the heart.
It's amazing, isn't it? All the ways to be connected to others these days and yet it seems like we've never been as disconnected as we are today. You can feel that disconnect in a lot of mainstream modern entertainment. There's gems buried in the dirt, but like you pointed out, there's never been as much screaming for our attention as there is today. When you see Paul Bettany talk about his wife Jennifer Connelly, you can hear a man who realizes the pricelessness of having made the kind of solid connection with someone that we all crave. Even as a very young kid I had a crush on her from Labyrinth, I find it reassuring to know she and Bettany are happy together. They say there's someone for everyone. I dearly hope that's true. Makes me think of the Coldplay lyrics, "You were an island and I passed you by/ you were an island to discover." I hope the majority of us realize our chances for discovering our "islands" for what they are when they're happening.
I watched Connelly in Maverick last night and her allure is still there. It's her eyes...her gaze expresses intensity, beauty, comfort, and intelligence at the same time. Truly a timeless and priceless woman. Of course this era of Def Leppard hits that nostalgia soft-spot super hard, too. Kudos.
This is a great song with the power of the feeling come through loud and clear. Jennifer Connelly has to be in the top ten most beautiful women in America, along with Linda carter, and... well, you fill in the blank. She is even more amazing now and she is the real thing. Her acting is as good as any one in her field. Captivating... 😛😍
Hysteria and Jennifer go so damn well together--I could cry I want to go back to the 80’s when life was great. We will never have that again. This music is like a Time Machine porting me back.
Jennifer is reason enough to love growing up in the 80’s not to mention the overall greatness of the 80’s. She maybe the most flawless women of that era not to mention she still looks amazing today . Anytime this movie comes on I watch it again she draws me in every time.
Takes me right back to hs. Always wanted Kerry. She had a bf I had a gf. Everyone knew we liked each other. This song came on and I asked her to dance the whole school cheered. We are now married with 3 kids and a grand kid on the way. We had one crazy happy life after that one moment and still do.
I got divorced in 1987 while stationed in Montana working in the ICBM Minuteman Missile Fields 12th and 564th, I was 19. Wife could not handle the separation and it was rough, this came out at that time, and this song is something I cherish to this day. Lord I miss the 80's....
Ironically back in 1987, this song was played constantly at the skating rink near where I went to school. I remember because I was 16 and it was the first time a girl had reached out and held my hand. :) Good memories from a better time when there were no cell phones to keep people separate.
I was in high school when this album dropped and it was by far the biggest rock album at that time. Just about every track... Pairing this song with Jennifer is brilliant. Girls like her definitely evoke hysteria.
You know what things move on, Boomer & every generation blames the one comes after it when it's the ones came before it effed things up / started the fire so get over yourself already.
I would like to go back to the '80s... I remember slow dancing at our school dance with the girl I always wanted. I remember the smell of her hair and the warmth of her body. Whenever I hear a slow song from the '80s, it takes me right back there again. I miss the '80s, I miss the freedom, I miss the innocence.
No imagine being the age, and having watched Ms Connelly on the screen when these movies were new. Yes, she was the angel in the dreams of many young men around the world in the 80's. Still is. Paul Bettany, you are a singularly blessed man. ;)
We use to drive 50-100 miles, three or four times a week playing summer baseball under the lights until 11 pm -to midnight, get in car and drive home. It was our junior and senior year, we had all known each other for ten years or more. This was our favorite album to drive to. Five to six of us in car with girls just rockin' out, full of life without a worry in the world. We didn't care, win or lose, just kick arse as hard as you could, sweat and bleed for each other and just the love of ball. It was the best time of our life, the memories are great but OMG I miss it so much. I have chills listening to this thinking of then.
This is what we fight for : knowing we are not alone , inspired by the beauty of each other , the human connection and the adventure of life with that connection . Alone sucks . Don't be alone , heartbreak hurts but the experience of connection , dreams , hopes and adventures with each other is more than worth it !
Just after the eighties, it was called the "age of excess". Looking back now, it was a much more innocent, carefree time than we could have realized compared to 2000 and after. Social media and 9/11 changed everything.
Funny how fast time passes us by. Haven't heard any Def Lepard in decades11 :) Classic rock band. No more like them today...we're in a "dark ages" (mega band members retired or passed away)....filled with Reality Show winners...and a few "known artists" still working part-time....in music and film...
Enjoyed this film. Was a film student in college and remember Inventing the Abbotts, Connelly was very good in that film as well, this was a great time for music and films!
It amazes me how John Hughes had the pulse on times and teens in the 80's like really no one else has had on the themes since GREATEST DIRECTOR EVER!!!
Can't help but get emotional about the tunes, the times and the people. Take me back to the 80s and leave me there. The best decade and I'm so fortunate to have lived it. That's what I'll thank my maker for when we meet.
The 80s and 90s just had a different feel, and it felt much better. I feel nostalgic for those days, I'm doubtful I'll be nostalgic about the 2010s-2020s, at least the era.
Jennifer 53 years old now and still beautiful great TV shows great music a lot of hair bands a lot of rock bands. Where did everybody go? I wish we could turn back. Time.

@@dennington32 Oh no, we get it. It's not creepy. A girl can be absolutely stunning at 15. Adult men just can't act on it. Fair. Easy. We see beautiful women all the time that we don't act on, that's just life as a guy.

Man, does that kitchen at the beginning stir up memories of relatives' and friends' houses when I was a kid. Makes me miss my Nana and her house. ❤️ so true
Class of ‘85 here and love the 80’ - the best decade of humanity, I believe.
Best decade of all time.
This movie is from 1991.
It's insane It's like losing a long lost friend😊
No cell phones. People had your 100% undivided attention. We’ll never experience that type of connection again. I miss it everyday.
So why are you wasting your time on RUclips? Go out and meet and talk to people.

John Hughes...the master of teen angst movies. Jennifer Connelly...every teenage boy's dream girl back in the day.
