I think the test, colleague she was referencing is “QT imaging/ultrasound “ as alternative to mammograms. and Dr Jenn Simmons…. I think, been a while since I heard her interview but definitely peaked my interest! Thanks for this interview also.
Yes, progesterone is in peanut oil. From what I understand, progesterone can also be absorbed vaginally as well as rectally. I don’t know if that is in pill form though. Louise Newsom from the U.K. discusses this.
I’ve started in my 30’s with thermogram and ultrasound every 2-3 yrs. My OBGYN gave it to me when I asked. No way I’m doing a mammogram, it’s damaging and not as good as what I’m doing which is painless! I’m in Ontario Canada so I only paid for the thermography.
I have BRCA2, have a family history of breast cancer, and had my uterus removed at 40, due to endometriosis and adenomyosis. I am 59, and not one of my doctors have you ever mentioned hormone replacement, or anything at all. I now have osteopenia, djd, and DBD. How screwed am I??
That is good to know! Now if I could only get a Dr. to prescribe it for me, that would be great! No history of breast cancer in my family history. Estriol is weakest form of estrogen. Thanks
No breast cancer for my mother or me (so far). The Womens' Health Initiative study had data that showed, for women taking estrogen only (because they had no uterus), the risk of breast cancer was LOWER than for women taking no hormones. This indicates that it was the synthetic progesterone that was resulting in elevated breast cancer.
I turn 66 on Saturday. I never got to have kids and had a total hysterectomy (including ovaries removed) in my mid-50's because of severe endometriosis problems. The doc at that time flat-out said NO ESTROGEN after the surgery because cancer risk. My skin has changed alot, I'm losing hair, but now have the moustache shadow that I never had before. I've done "all the right things" for my teeth/jaw but have alot of bone loss in the jaw causing gum & tooth problems now. I hike and ski alot, have never had a specific injury, but both knees now give me trouble. Not sure if those are related to all this hormone talk. But I'm told "its too late now" to do hormone therapy. No idea how to find a good doc in my area to review again, and I'm thinking medicare won't help.
also, one aunt died in her 70's from a sudden heart attack. Another aunt dealt with breast cancer (that's not what took her out though). Nothing in my immediate family though.
Thanks for this interview!
Thank you so much for this important discussion!
Great conversation!
Thank You!

Is hormonal issues the reason for dry skin and inflammation and osteoporosis and many other ailments?
Yes!
Just to expand a little-the abrupt loss of estrogen in perimenopause/ menopause will cause dry skin increased inflammation and accelerated bone loss.
Is there validity to lack of hormone to hip tendonitis?

Is 73 to old to take bio-identical hormones? I have osteoporosis and do Reclast therapy. Would love to do estriol for my skin & bones!
I am 70 and now on estradiol and progesterone. Both bioidentical. I feel better.

How about natural therapies like wild yam cream for estrogen?

I know that we are only an N of two.
I don't think mammograms use contrast. Did you mean MRI?
Sloan Kettering uses contrast in mammograms for dense breast tissue. Maybe used other places, especially when someone might have breast cancer
These two are waffling alot about themselves and what they are doing.
No info so far on taking hrt.
Medicare covers breast ultrasound!! If you have Medicare it is safer and more thorough.
Thankyou for your common sense.,I assume more older women (without hormones) get more cancer than young women (with hormones)
I was 43.
