Same, I've never followed a motorsports series so closely in my life. Sro gt racing was sort of like the gateway drug for me starting around 2018, then hypercar kicked off and it was a whole other level.
Man coming from the rolex 23:58 I'm beyond hyped for the WEC season to begin. I'm hoping now that most manufacturers have had over a year of racing and proper real world application testing, the competition will be a little more close for all 3 podium positions, not just the final 3rd place.
I first went to Le Mans in 1979, long after Ferrari's heyday in Sportscar racing, and in all the years I went there, there was nothing as big as Ferrari's Prototype return in 2023, they raised its profile to a whole new level; if they never won it again it would still be huge, but winning it first time out has made it a must see event.
Gotta admit it looks like a new golden age for motorsports, WEC is amazing, Rally 1 cars are faster than Group B and many series around the world are incredible to watch! If only F1 got their things togheter we would be set.
If F1 doesn't get its [ahem] together then this is the ideal time for people disillusioned by the Liberty Media Circus to branch out into other disciplines and recognise that there's far, far more to motorsport. Hopefully people do.
As long as Hypecars and GTPs continues to race separately in thier own series - few times in a calendar year - WEC and Imsa, - but not together in 20 race season all over the world. This 'new golden age' looks only good on paper.

Yeah they’re pretty fast, but costs a lot. If LMH/LMDh teach one thing, is that pure performance is not essential for a technical regulation, to be great.

V12 is a very long engine, as the engine is a fully stressed member, it wouldn't make the chassis as stiff as it is with relatively short V6 turbo. The same reason why V12 was outphased from F1 during the 90's, V10 made a better compromise being almost as throttle responsive but without sacrificing that level of twist resistance engineers wanted

@@kakahuete9656 Yeah the stealthy sound of the ferrari’s TT-V6 really does made the 296GT3 like a fish out of water, but the 499P on the other hand…the sounds fits perfectly with the spaceship-like prototype aesthetics. But still, so far it’s a competitive engine tho so props to them anyway.
I don't think it's outright "bad", at high speeds and acceleration it sounds brutal. Though i imagine the road car version would be much more higher pitch.

Do you think they can challenge the Toyota's again not only for Le Mans honours but the WEC title as well? I think this is definitely becoming Ferrari's flagship Motorsport project to bring home the results! 🇮🇹

All the others sound like they bought a sound pack called "generic racing car". You can hear the cadillac over the others and the Ferrari underneath. Love how mechanical the Ferrari is and reminds me of the old diesl Audis. Hate people who think Loud= sounds good
Sleek looking car. But gosh dat understeer. Shockingly slow around the corners compared to LMP1. Good straight line speed but closer to GT3 than LMP1 in terms of grip/ downforce.
@@pmayo7894 they would have to spend exactly 0$ on removing restrictors and letting the cars have at least 800-900hp with a different state of tune. These cars could be a lot faster even in their current aero setups.
The only one I know for sure was Robert Kubica. Then looking to some of the pictures I took during the day, the other helmets I spotted were similar to Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen's ones but I'm not sure if they were really theirs..
I agree, its a shame ferrari went to a v6. It just doesnt sound good. It sounds better than the 296 I guess.. but this thing would sound so much better with a proper ferrari v8 or v12. I think I recall enzo ferrari saying a long time ago he would never give up the large 12 cyl engines, and that the heart of ferrari are the v12's, he even hated turbo's, he always wanted that raw screaming v12 sound in his top tier race cars. He'd be rolling in his grave if he could hear the vacuum cleaner sounding v6's they put in their race cars now..
This era of prototype race cars is so cool and this is the most beautiful car of the group. Love the livery too. Just the right balance of yellow and black accents.
