This cover unlocked memories of me from middle school. I didn't have the language for it but I was really repressed in my LGBTness and super depressed with undiganoised anxiety and depression. It gets better. I often went to this song in middle school when I was really depressed. I'm 24 now and crying about how sad I was back then and realizing how far I came.
I can’t display my situation in the same context- however I can partially relate to the notion of the depression and anxiety piece. I was diagnosed with PDD or Persistent Depressive Disorder, along with various psychological and mental ailments. Just want to let you know that I hope you got through it okay in one piece, and that it takes time to heal from withering trauma, loss, or grief; whether caused by others or the uncontrollable nature of life’s consequences. Stay strong; and take the road one step at a time, I can only IMAGINE how much it just HURTS. I’ve felt it all too much myself. There is always a way out of the abyss… you just have to find the ladder. Take care fellow human being, and may the winds of fortune favor you boldly. ❤️

Perhaps it's the sharp, electronic and a little bit muffled sound of the instrumental? That's classic age Vocaloid music, with the muffled instrumentals, vocals that are just as muffled and lyrics which were either perfectly happy, dark as all hell or borderline insane and weird.
I'm not a person who's known a lot of old songs and get really nostalgic, but... This does make me happy. I admit, I first heard an English cover of this song, then fell in love with...Ron's version, I think. But still, I fell in love nonetheless, and this song has stuck with me through a lot.
