I had a controller with a turbo feature back then, and used it anyway to clear it, but the game never punished me for it. I don't remember the exact kind of controller it was, but maybe its turbo was set just right that the game was none the wiser. The controller itself wasn't anything fancy.
If you enable cheats in single player in unreal tournament 2004. You're labeled as cheater in the high score tab and you can't unlock the secret characters

I still remember that on Link's awakening back on the GameBoy when I was only 7 or 8. Konami scolding you for using the Code also exists in Gradius 3. Entering it as normal gives you all the powerups--and explodes you. You have to use the shoulder buttons instead of the D-pad for the L/R inputs to make it work.
You didn't mention Conker's Bad Fur Day. When you're in the main hub and you go to options, there's an option for cheat codes. But when you enter that option, a fire imp will say either "Giving up already huh?" or "You cheating bastard!" Also, if you enter the wrong code twice, he says "Didn't work first time, ain't gonna work a second time. DIP SHIT!"
personally, I think the south park didnt really punishes cheater... it actually punishes south park fans because if you are a fans of the show, the password is rather obvious... i mean, that is the 1st thing i tried and got the "you are a cheater" speech by cartman..
Fun Fact: Ocho from TAWOG & Gumball (for some reason) used the Silent Hill 3 cheat code in the episode, The Tape. He used it to get snacks for free, cheat in the exam and get super speed mode. Gumball tried to use the cheat code but glitched, spawning a tank and no-clipping to it.
I’m against pirating games unless their old (like Tetris or whatever) or no longer available completely off sale. Seriously even games that suck or look like they suck had a lot of coding and art (two of some of the longest and skilled things to do) had work put into them and those people deserve to be payed for their work.. And trust me if the game even exist they tried their best a lot of games are written off even far into development so gaming devs even lose alot of work too. But Nintendo needs to chill a bit tbh
Nah switch emulation is goated. I have a switch but fuck having games that should be in 1080 p and 60 fps sucks so much. So bayoneta 3 I will gladly emulate for that sweet 60 fps.
Yeah but when you download a game that is not commercially available it isn't pirating. In fact, I am preserving it and appreciating all the work they did by enjoying it even though it's not being sold anymore. I'd say there's nothing wrong with that.
The only reason I pirated games were when I couldn’t pay for them, as I didn’t grow up with money to spare for games. Though, I’ve finally managed to scrape the money to get the games I pirated, because I really want to support devs!
There was a game I used to play on mobile called Wolf Online, basic animal fight simulator game where you kill others and npc animals to get stronger. But, it had a thing we referred to as “Hacker Hell”. It wasnt by any means a sure fire thing nor was it very effective, but if you did a bad enough modding of your stats to super op levels or giving yourself the ability to give negative or positive infinite points you were kind of set aside and any time you joined a server the only people on there would be other powerful hackers and modders running around killing each other and making the game unenjoyable for each other, sometimes you got out of it, and there were still tons of people using mods who weren’t in hacker hell, but it was always a cautionary tale to new players we told.
Yeah, a lot of the games I played when I was younger (mostly animal simulator games like wolf online) fell off long ago, around 2015 because they either weren’t updated or the modders took over
Dark souls does this as well but its very poorly executed and i'm convinced theres more people there that have been invaded by or have summoned a cheater unknowingly than have actually cheated.
the south park fracture but hole game code cheat is honestly the best one out here, if you keep on repeating it without actually going to cartman's room, they just straight up end the game
I always found it annoying because you can easily guess the password after watching a single episode of south park so being punished feels super cheap.
I'm all for funny easter eggs in solo player games but why end the game or straight up delete the file like in Banjo Kazooie just for players cheating in a way that doesn't hurt other players?

In guild wars 2 they publicly shamed a hacker by logging into their account, stripping off all their armor and jumping off a cliff to their death before permanently banning them and posting the video online.
Well that's fair game. Honestly the makers of the game can punish you however they please, that's still legal. Logging into accounts, wiping it all and that to me is very legal.
The gta Dunce hat is actually something people want. I used to be a pvp player but didn't want to farm helpless noobs in an open lobby. Been there a couple times. very refreshing every once in a while. unfortunately the duration increases every time
If I was a dev, and someone would cheat, I’d make them fight a boss with nothing but an empty water bottle, and the boss one shots them. You die, you’re perm banned, you win, you’re perm banned
The Banjo-Kazooie Gruntilda screen transition and game over scene happen regardless of whether you cheat or not though. In fact it's one of few games that actually show you the consequences of failing to save the day.
Donkey Kong 64 did the same thing, where when you exited your game K.Rool's laser pointed right at DK island charges up and cuts to K.Rool laughing in his chair before it fires. Rare was such a gem back then.
In Street Fighter 6's campaign mode, there's a scientist that tasks you with solving a math problem. I guess the game can detect if it's being windowed, and you get berated for looking it up.
What sucks about that South Park one is that I already knew the answer and felt kinda cheated since I wasn't cheating, it's a reference to the show. But it was still really funny so it's a mixed bag since I did genuinely enjoy the easter egg I would have missed otherwise.
Its just a game, nobody gives a fuck, we might cheat in game, but the developers cheated someone in their real life and humiliated others and that matters more than the cheaters in game.we live on a planet called EARTH not living inside some video gaming universe.
Not really because the creators of the show and the team seem more butt-hurt that another team had a dynasty as amazing as the Pats. The fact they threw shade ot in the show and game shows it and how pathetic they are
What's awesome, is when you're so good at the Metal Gear Solid torture sequence, that you activate the cheater trap. Yes, it's possible to do without Auto-Fire. I did it back in the day, but probably couldn't do it now with my blown out thumbs... yes... it's possible to blow out your thumb joints too.
Grunty laughing and getting a cutscene in Banjo Kazooie is there by default everytime you save and quit the game, whether or not you used cheats. It's supposed to be the technically "bad ending" since you left the game without saving your sister.
My idea for an anti cheat would be just if you tried to cheat, it would put a random, permanent filter on the game. E.G flipping the screen vertically, making everything overexposed/tacky, quadrupling the screen in a grid, etc.

What's funny about the one for Metal Gear Solid, is that even if you aren't using auto-fire, if you press the button TOO FAST, you'll fail the sequence. So you have to hammer the button fast, but not THAT fast.

I had a controller with a turbo feature back then, and used it anyway to clear it, but the game never punished me for it. I don't remember the exact kind of controller it was, but maybe its turbo was set just right that the game was none the wiser. The controller itself wasn't anything fancy.
You know what would be crazy? If the game compared the interval between button presses. Namely check if it's consistent.

I still remember that on Link's awakening back on the GameBoy when I was only 7 or 8. Wow, wait until the Geneva Convention hears about this 😂
I'm 100% sure that the developers of DK64 didn't intentionally program your character to bug out upon using a GameShark.
It was a coincidence and also a happy accident.
My guess is that the GameShark somehow messes with the expansion pack. And the game is totally and utterly unplayable without the expansion pack.

But when you enter that option, a fire imp will say either "Giving up already huh?" or "You cheating bastard!" Fun Fact: Ocho from TAWOG & Gumball (for some reason) used the Silent Hill 3 cheat code in the episode, The Tape.
So bayoneta 3 I will gladly emulate for that sweet 60 fps.
nintendo doesn't let you buy old games, but also doesn't want you to pirate them.
yes, perfect logic, nintendo.
Yeah but when you download a game that is not commercially available it isn't pirating. In fact, I am preserving it and appreciating all the work they did by enjoying it even though it's not being sold anymore. I'd say there's nothing wrong with that.
You pirate games because thei are old and offsale, i pirate games because im poor. We are not the same
The only reason I pirated games were when I couldn’t pay for them, as I didn’t grow up with money to spare for games.

It wasnt by any means a sure fire thing nor was it very effective, but if you did a bad enough modding of your stats to super op levels or giving yourself the ability to give negative or positive infinite points you were kind of set aside and any time you joined a server the only people on there would be other powerful hackers and modders running around killing each other and making the game unenjoyable for each other, sometimes you got out of it, and there were still tons of people using mods who weren’t in hacker hell, but it was always a cautionary tale to new players we told.
the game itself is unenjoyable.

Love the idea when you are sent to a server full of other cheaters
Titanfall (and I think Titanfall 2) does this as well. You have Respawn to thank for that. 😁
Dark souls does this as well but its very poorly executed and i'm convinced theres more people there that have been invaded by or have summoned a cheater unknowingly than have actually cheated.
That first banjo and kazooie one is like calling you a criminal
the south park fracture but hole game code cheat is honestly the best one out here, if you keep on repeating it without actually going to cartman's room, they just straight up end the game
I always found it annoying because you can easily guess the password after watching a single episode of south park so being punished feels super cheap.
I'm all for funny easter eggs in solo player games but why end the game or straight up delete the file like in Banjo Kazooie just for players cheating in a way that doesn't hurt other players?

Grunty laughing and getting a cutscene in Banjo Kazooie is there by default everytime you save and quit the game, whether or not you used cheats. It's supposed to be the technically "bad ending" since you left the game without saving your sister.
My idea for an anti cheat would be just if you tried to cheat, it would put a random, permanent filter on the game. E.G flipping the screen vertically, making everything overexposed/tacky, quadrupling the screen in a grid, etc.
