      ***** ur an idiot if you think hes running 1500 on the street. Those high hp numbers are just numbers thats why whenever you see a video of a gtr or lambo race a vette with 1500hp they win. Noone runs that much hp below 120mph. They are running boost by gear

      steve rodriguez well you can hear that the corvette driver didn't just floor it right away. With that kind of power(if it REALLY is 1500hp) you have to gradually increase the throttle other wise your tires are definitely gonna spin. In most videos I see of Supras with all that power the driver doesn't floor it right away, and when he does you can tell because either the tires spin or they're about to and the driver lets off a bit. Idk just my thought. Not tryna start any negative bullshit haha.

  • @ralekriver
    @ralekriver 11 лет назад

    Agree. In Race 1, the Viper is keeping pace with the Vette only in the BEGINNING. We can clearly see and hear in the reply from the Vettes perspective that this was because the Corvette just COULD NOT get traction at full throttle. The driver also shortshifted at 0:43, the rear tires having broken loose and the engine red-lining. The Vette then proceeds to spin tires in the next gear. If the speeds are accurate, then so to, I assume, are the HP numbers.

      I enjoy high-performance cars, like my 825-hp, red-metalflake, gorgeous '68 Vette. So I enjoyed the video. Now I have to increase MY power!
      But long ago (1966), as a teen, I hit something at 85-90 mph, at night. When I pulled over, the right front of my dad's '63 Chrysler 300J was a little damaged around the headlights. I thought maybe I hit a box or something; it looked like that in the split-second before I hit it. Then when I got light on the right front, I saw a little blood! I was afraid that I had hit a person, wandering on the highway!
      The highway patrol finally found what I hit, over an hour later. (I worried the whole time, praying, until they called!) I hit a large, grey, collar-less dog; it was about 1/4-mi away, in a ditch. (No one ever claimed the dog, so it was a stray, and they disposed of it.)
      But they said that another time, they found a person in the ditch in that same area, hit by someone who did NOT report it, as I did.
      Thankfully I did NOT hit a person! Also thankfully, I was not charged with anything (they had no evidence of my actual speed). And of course, my dad was not happy! (He got it fixed, but later sold it. I wish I still had that 300J.)
      But it COULD have been much worse, if it HAD been a person. Also, even that large dog could have wrecked or killed me, if it was not a glancing blow off the right front, because I swerved a bit to the left, in that split-second. Whenever I think of it, I have always felt sad for that stray dog. :(

    • @jakubkrcma
      @jakubkrcma 10 лет назад +1

      Phil Baker In 2009, my front left burst at 160+ mph on a highway (empty car, empty road, after midnight). The car had been standing for some time before that and the tires didn't like it, obviously. I didn't hit anything, but the vibrations at around 140 mph were horrible. I thought I would seriously crash massively. At around 110-120 mph, the situation was already very calm. And at 80 mph, it felt like I was already doing walking speed, very relaxed. So I learned the hard way that our highway speed limit of 130 km/h (81 mph) was very good. But of course it cannot protect us against everything that can happen (animals, pedestrians, drivers who do not use mirrors or signals...). Still, it is much better than if something happens at 120+ mph.

    Hmmm...1500hp (theoretical?) and you blew a ring, oil coming out of your tailpipe! What's the point? If you're going to spend all of that dough and bore out your engine you might want to consider high performance parts!

    • @pokerman9108
      @pokerman9108 8 лет назад

      as if it wouldn't have high performance parts...

    • @matthewhaga5400
      @matthewhaga5400 7 лет назад

      BigBird1766 You need to do a little studying. It is common for high performance cars to have more ring gap to keep from breaking rings under high boost pressures. More blow by can equal smoke out the exhaust with running hard then off the throttle.

    • @superdude1759
      @superdude1759 7 лет назад

      Yeah, well I'm a jet engine mechanic (high bypass turbo fan) so I know a little about engine pressures and oil. The engines I work on run at far greater temperatures (700°F) and pressures (35:1-40:1) than your sorry little car engines and they don't spit anything out the exhaust nozzle at high pressures except hot gases because they're designed so that the oil stays in the engine to do what is supposed to do, lubricate, the fuel air mixture is burned properly so that only hot thrust under high pressure exits the engine, not oil and engine parts, but then again your sorry little engines aren't built to the same standards are they because: 1) they don't leave the ground and 2) you couldn't afford them if they were engineered correctly!
      Perhaps it's you who needs to learn something about contained combustion!

    • @matthewhaga5400
      @matthewhaga5400 7 лет назад +4

      BigBird1766 Well you see...the engines you supposedly work on are for a completely different purpose so that makes sense that things are different. As far as me not being able to afford something like this car, I don't need to be able to afford it. I would just build it. You need to not be such a know it all because obviously you don't know. The engines are much different and run in completely different ways. And you might could afford a car like this, but you couldn't afford the jet engines you supposedly work on, so what's the difference?

    • @jackbishop7693
      @jackbishop7693 7 лет назад +2

      Mmm no, a jet is far different than an automotive internal combustion engine. The quality of parts alone, as well as tolerances might far exceed what a car can handle, but jets are also not only worked on, but fully rebuilt, logarithmically more often. Just look at Top Fuel cars as an example, no?

    Some parts body parts of the corvettes are made out of polyurethane which is a polymer that with stands far more heat than plastic and is flexible and durable. This used on Porches Ferraris Nissans Lamborghinis all the most expensive cars included the precious Veyron. Besides the materials used for the body isn't what gets the race won.

  • @Nicecardude100
    @Nicecardude100 11 лет назад

    My point was if I had a 1500 hp capable vette, I would have boost controllers and I could drop the boost to the lowest level and that motor would be about 8-900 hp and I would easily see 30 mpg on the highway with a corvette. I tried to explain this to someone who obviously didn't know of a boost controller or know a lot about them. I mentioned the tt 600 whp ls3 corvette that peaked 43 mpg on the highway, that's a consistent 35mpg. I have a 96 z28 right now for sale just to let you know.

Here, we'd have to wait on parts getting ordered.or if not doing the work yourself you'd have to go one guy for tuning. and your statement is true as well to a degree we can have the same CI but i have more cylinders which there are pros and cons in any fashion this is why supras did so with their inline 6 it was a well put together car everything work in cohesion im a fan of chevy but we all have to admit GTR's are some badass cars period point blank, if they were not comparable we would not be having a conversation like this Nissan had to be doing something right

    depends on which car you get, a "muscle"car isnt going to do anything very well but run very fast n a straight line....get something like the ford focus, Chevy cobalt, or dodge dart, you have a separate story all together, those have been known to be rally cars, where you need the best handling ever to stay on the track...
