The oak drawer front...wow! The original damaged side looks like it would be junked. The waxed side looks like it just has character and history. :)
I have a thrifted early 1900's dresser I need to repair and wax, and I think it will be fantastic. And my antique French walnut Henri II revival bed needs a good wax and it will be glorious.

      Hi Wendy.
Give it a try. You can't go wrong. Its a beeswax polish.😁 (not just any beeswax polish) Its Gilboys Beeswax polish. 😃

Great video very informative. Just wondering does the wax polish clean as well or should the project be cleaned first and then apply the wax
    Thanks

Such a pity that nobody sells elbow grease in a tin. It would be the perfect partner for wax polish.

Just wondering why on the child's rocker you sealed with shellac sanding sealer but on the g plan table you sealed with hardwax oil
    Thanks

      Hi Darren.
Sorry for the delayed reply. The reason I used sanding sealer is for ease of use and its suitability for the future use of the chair.
      I'll explain...
Sanding sealer doesn't really have any hardwearing properties. It's not really water repellant or resistant to mechanical wear. But it does have a relatively good 'solids' content and dries very quickly. And of course the most obvious reason is; it sands smooth really easily. When you apply our beeswax polish over the top of it, it gives a lovely satin wax finish to the wood. in short you can create a very simple finish very quickly.
I used the hardwax oil on the G-Plan tables because they are going to get a lot of hard mechanical wear and hardwax oils are very hardwearing. Visually the finish will be very similar, but the practical properties of the hardwax oil will be outperform the sanding sealer by a considerable margin.
The child's rocker on the other hand doesn't need this high level of protection. It will hardly get any use so the finish will last for decades. This type of finish is known as a 'dry shine'.
I hope this helps explain the reason why.
      Kind regards
      Simon

Great video ! Can I ask you how you might go about getting candle wax off/out of a carved rosewood table ?

      Hi Marc.
Depending on how much wax there is. I think the safest way would be to remove it with a very fine, sharp blade. If it cooled quick i would have thought it will release itself quite easily form the surface. Failing this, using a hot air gun to warm the wax to melting point and immediately dab the liquid wax away with an absorbent cloth.

I have used ice (wrapped in cloth to avoid wetting the surface) to super harden the wax and then it almost falls off the surface when lightly picked.

@@ASouthernYankee this was a table I purchased that the wax had been set in for a while. Not easy to pick off when it’s inside the carved grooves. It wasn’t easy but it’s done now

      Hi Bex
I would maybe try our rose gold polish. But it may not work. It all depends on how absorbent the finish is.
take a look at this help and advice article I wrote on our website.
