I love Slovenia Bruce. I live in western Canada but ride in Europe when able. Just got back from a 10K km ride through Western Europe. I’ve ridden Slovenia a few times and you were very near one of my favourite places to visit. Just 5 km from Bled is Vintgar Gorge. Great place to visit but I’d suggest leaving some gear with the bike while you discover it.
Ah the dreaded covid, I suffered same fate last week. Hope your feeling better now. Would be equal parts epic and scary to see bears in the wild roaming next the to the road I'd imagine. Another great display of the roads out there

the "christmas tree" at 2:00 is called "mlaj", its done when somebody has a birthday and the locals will steal a rode speed sign (50, if you are celebrating a 50 year birthday) and put it on the top. its all one spruce tree, with bark and lower parts of branches pealed off. hope you enjoyed our country and safe travels man :D
I'm a bit of an independent type and not one for group rides, but the tour does look good. So what do you think the advantages of an organised tour are over just heading off yourself?
I was exactly like you bud, the thought of going off on a group tour with people I didn’t know just didn’t interest me in the slightest, I much preferred the freedom to go where I wanted, and when I wanted. There’s pro’s and cons - organised group rides will often target the big hitter roads, the ‘must-rides’, they’ll have the local knowledge about weather systems, traffic laws and customs, places to eat, etc. For me I like to do the organised group rides as I can just switch off my logistics brain and let someone else take the strain and organise each day. A problem with organised group rides with a group you don’t know, is obviously riding styles and abilities can vary drastically, so you need to take that into account. I’d still say solo travel is my favourite, but I do enjoy these organised group rides now 👍
