Which lady is your mom? I recognize one lady in this video, the blond in the offwhite jacket towards the beginning. Just wondering if it's the same person.
89, my mother would have been 10 with me, being born 10 years later in 99. I remember the mall so much as a child. I went every weekend with my grandmother when she babysat me. She would meet up with her friends and do laps around the place while my brothers and I sat at the food court or at the pet shop. After I got my drivers license, I would go almost every weekend and walk around thinking of my grandmother, sit by Auntie Ann's drinking a strawberry banana smoothie and people watch. That was back in 2015. Wondering how a place that was such a staple part of my childhood had seemed to become forgotten by everyone. Then, one day, it hit me. Just like my family, other people's grandparents died, and their parents might have become alcoholics too. And hear I was alone in an empty mall on a Saturday afternoon. They closed a few years later.
So incredibly sad that this place is no longer there. A great place to go shopping local. Now a person has to travel a long way to shop. Sad springfield.
Wow. This is GREAT. I was one, and most definitely have a picture of me on that Santa's lap. Edit: That man with the shoes for his girlfriend absolutely did not have to rat on himself. People weren't used to being in front of cameras for sure.
I recognize the blond in the offwhite jacket towards the beginning. The one he asked her about which earrings she liked. I went to high school with her.
OMG that’s my mother in this footage and it made my whole Christmas Eve. She passed away in 07 and to hear her voice again was the best gift ever.
That's so dope
I'm so glad this came your way!
I knew that was her. ♥️

Aww, what a blessing! merry Christmas!
Thanks so much for sharing this! So hard to find footage in the mall. I was probably working there when this was filmed (in Fun N Games)!

Great memories! I miss the Springfield Mall!!
I won a big wheel race there in 1979 when I was 6 years old. Great memories of my childhood in that place.
89… I would’ve been three. So many core memories unlocked watching this. I always thought the big sticks of salami were weird when I was a kid😂😂
Hickory Farms...always went in there for the samples.. I think these were in every mall in America.
Gen X for life. We lived in that mall until I left for the Navy some 3 months before that footage was shot. I recognized the footlocker forehead guy -

I have a feeling that guy was joking....but you never know :)
That little boy who is shy of the microphone is probably 40 years old now....
I was thinking the same thing. Millennial.
I’m 38 and was 3 at this time so you are probably right😂

This was 35 years ago?! I had just gotten married in that October....time is a thief😔
Ahh, I smell the 80s at the mall
