I know it's a bit late and stating the obvious, but the Tour, Album and song were Sacred Heart not Hearth.
Well at least they were when i saw the tour and bought the album.
You know there’s a lot of heavy metal keyboard players but there’s something especially metal about the performance of Claude Schnell
Arguably the greatest voice in heavy metal history.
They say Halford is 😉
@@JohnDoe-rp3mx I saw a list that had Dio #1, Halford #2, and Dickinson #3. I thought for sure Ozzy would be at or near the top
@@_JellyDonut_ thats all commercial
lista, wheres kai Hansen, Ripper, Messija marcolin etc.
He’s 2nd… Rob Halford owns it.. That said, you cannot deny the dynamic voice of RJD! …. If I had to choose #2, in the Metal Category, I’d say Robert Plant… He inspired the sustained high notes in early, raw, fuckin rock n roll
Listen this from 6:25 til very end nobody can do that ruclips.net/video/bPXa4kAQp48/видео.html
it's actually insane that his voice sounded this good on live scene.
That's why he's the greatest metal voice of all time. He's the real deal.
And he's 43 years old here. Crazy!
I saw him on the last Heaven and Hell tour before he got sick. 67 years old and nailed every note.
I saw Dio live starting in '83, including this tour, and he always sounded great as did his band.
common thing in the 80s
Still the best heavy metal vocalist in history. Incredible🤘👊👍
Born in ‘84 but I should’ve been at this show 😭
This was my first concert, I was 16 y.o. I was lucky enough to have a cool older brother that took me and a few of my friends to see Dio. He was and still is my favorite. He was in his prime right here and we were truly blessed to see him then. R.I.P. R.J.D. You are really missed but your music will live on forever. I’m sure you are rocking out wherever you are!
Damn.. same here.
Damn.. same here.
HEART..... WTF?
HEART..... WTF?
I can't even imagine being at a show like that. So many people! There must have been like 20,000 people in that stadium. The atmosphere must have been electric. I never got to see Dio live, but from all the recordings I've seen, it's clear nobody put on a show like he did.
This is just nuts. Shot on film at *30fps* so it looks like you're basically there today.
37:25 the coolest moment in heavy metal history...
He did those improvised parts a lot on his concerts, I wish it was on the official song lol.
Craig Goldy is so fucking underrated. The guy is a riff master.
I couldn’t agree more, Joey! 👍 Craig Goldy is a guitar God in my books now. What a player, and he had the stage presence to go with his technical prowess! Unbelievably awesome! 🤟👏
Since someone had to replace Vivian, I'm glad it was Craig!
The biggest fan of metal music in that entire arena was on the stage with the microphone. That's one of they MANY reasons I love Dio. He wasn't out to just make a buck or pose like something he's not. He did it because it was IN him.
I was 14 years old & with my uncle on a business trip. He knew I loved dio so he bought tickets to my first concert ever & with DIO in Philly. For a boy from Norway this was the dream.
thats so cool! very lucky!
i wished you and i traded uncles lmao
Craig Goldy was just so cosmic sounding! Incredible era. So cool.
Meet him in Houston Texas once, and talk to him for a few minutes, I feel so lucky. RIP Ronnie!
Hard to belive that is live record. What a clear and massive sound. Great gig.
Just watched the Dio Doc. Craig Goldy lived in my neighborhood of Allied Gardens in San Diego. My friend and I were budding guitarists all of 14. Watched him play a few times at backyard / block parties. Went to his apartment a couple times to watch him play and gave us tips on playing and talked about players like Blackmore which was his favorite. Everyone who was into music or bands knew he would leave SD at some point. He was just too good to be ours alone. He was a sweet guy and gave us young kids the time of day which I will never forget.
I'm so jealous! 😥🥺
Hope I get to meet him, one of my favourites too. Do you mind sharing more about what was he like in person?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You can say what you did with him and your self esteem which you are not a good cover up your love making until you get judged or maybe questions about your actions and what you are. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This tour with big dragon on stage costed a whole fortune, but Dio didn't care about the costs. 🤘👊
Never got a chance to go see Ronnie James Dio in concert.....R.I.P. RJD 🤘🤘
Gone but not forgotten!! The man on the silver mountain 🤘🤘
Best voice in Metal!
I disagree. One of the best in Hard Rock. He didn't play Metal. Maybe a bit picky...:)
100% right
@@stephanfuchs7891 Yes he did bro what??? Devil you Know, Dehumanizer
@@hieinh in my opinion not. But this is my opinion. I don't expect others to think like me. :)
Agree
Bloody hell, heavy metal didn't get much better than the 80's. Everything was perfect.
I cannot understand why some of the band members didn't like Craig. HE's Fantastic.
He came in because of Vivian and Dios personal beef, the band liked Vivian he was the fkn man. Craigs a good guitar player nut he came in pretty much sucking off Dio, stole Vivian's look, and complained about not having more rights to the older music even though he knows its Vivian's, and finally later Dio in the 00s just doesn't feel the same imo. Seems like an alright dude but I lost most respect when he went on stage with a white guitar and all red spandex, I don't care how popular it was, it was Vivian's look. Took me ages in this vid to even realise hang on that's not Vivian and checked the description, would've liked him so much more if he came out in a new look cos his playing was there!
Vinnie is just killing it on the drums. This is the best performance I’ve ever heard from him.
Busy and fast
His bro had to be proud of that
Really? I thought his drum solo was pretty weak here.
@@cw3le It was. Very. But his drumming on the songs was well done.
That solo by Goldy is iconic. Guy was a magician, had a lot of tricks up his sleeve and executed them well here
I miss Vivian Campbel
The most underrated guitarist in history.

*Forever DIO* 🤘🏼
I've had so much fun! It's been like I was 14 again. Thank you.
Man Craig had it all. Chops, tone, feel, and stage presence. Too bad he never got a proper chance to make it big
God the audio quality and this concert in general are SO INSANELY GOOD - especially for 36 years old!!
One of my buds in the Navy would play Dio every single day that @the end of our deployment…I bought all of his albums! Been a fan since then! Dio til the end🤘🏽
I met this good man twice once in 86 once in 90. even though he he was tired he stopped, knew my name and asked how my family was. amazing considering the people he met over that time. I will always have a special place in my heart for Mr. Ronnie.
there will never be another.
I saw him on this tour October of 19 85 at the Worcester Centrum absolutely incredible show years later I saw him perform in Boston at a club venue playing with Black Sabbath and had the honor of meeting him after the show one of the nicest most humble people I've ever met he really cared about his fans and he took a general interest in them we had the best conversation I will never forget that experience God bless you Ronnie
Man that's awesome! i feel like when we met some of our heroes in metal back then. , it meant so much more & so inaccessible at the time. Today you don't have to leave your home with youtube and other formats.
Cool playing from Craig Goldy... underrated player, for sure. Met him in LA a few years ago, very nice dude as well.
After seeing live on this tour, I was a fan forever. Very cool you got to meet him.
As much as I hate hearing the term "underrated" as it applies to guitar players, it applies to Craig Goldy. People call John Sykes, Warren DeMartini, Jake E. Lee and Akira Takasaki underrated even though they're all massively popular and influential. Craig is truly underrated outside of Dio circles. Viv was part of the band for four years. Craig joined in 1986 and is STILL performing with Dio Disciples in 2022.
@@azimuth361 And he's also a well rounded musician... though being self taught (and living in his onw car for years....), he knows theory and can play pretty much any style. He showed me some rythm ideas (with a Hendrixy vibe, kinda) which were very groovy and quite different from what he's known for playing with either Dio of Giuffira.
Really? That guitar solo was hysterical. Pure Spinal Tap territory! Must have modelled himself on Nigel Tufnel. 🤣
@@Blade1310 I assume you can play it yourself without even trying... in your spinal tap moments, that is. C'mon, show it to the rest of the world, can't wait to witness it 😎
Thanks for upload this concert...the real Heavy metal
Fuckin amazing.......R.I.P. Ronnie......\m/\m/ four horns up. And Happy New Year everyone.
Saw the Phoenix show (July 23 1986) If someone had told me back then that i'd be watching a DIO concert on a 6 inch hand held device in 2023 i would have told them to 'Have another brew' 😏
WOW! Craig Goldie is Smokin'
There will never be another frontman like Dio! This man played in bands since 1957 and could clearly show the youngsters a few things on how to put on a show. Forever missed, never forgotten! RIP Dio

The starting song intro alone is enough to drop my jaw to the ground.
That golden voice is just something else and mind you, he sounds better live which a few can do
The high level of musicianship on display here and the fact that the band does it so effortlessly is really amazing. I'm not the biggest DIO fan but Craig Goldy is unbelievably good.
The strongest and most powerful Voice in heavy metal!!! Stay in peace metal warrior...😞😞
It makes me so sad knowing I will never get to see any of these amazing rock or metal bands in their prime live. I'm 27 now but feel like I have missed out :(
I just saw Iron Maiden live last month and you couldn't tell they aged. They put on a hell of a show. You still have time!
Yep you did
Дай Бог Царствие Небесное Дедушке Ронни!!! Великолепный и ни с кем не сравнимый вокал. ТАЛАНТИЩЕ!!!
One of the best Metal singers ever
I was lucky enough to see the Sacred Heart Tour when Dio toured Denver twice. As much as I love Vivian Campbell, Craig Goldy's tone and clarity is so much better. Of course, by the time Sacred Heart came around, Viv had pretty much checked out. Still, Craig sounds great.
Was lucky to see Dio on 8/20/84 (with Twisted Sister as the opener). Between Ronnie's vocals and Vivian's guitar, it was a night I'll never forget. R.I.P. Ronnie, you are still loved by everyone...
This sacred heart tour was Dio at his Best......this man was legendary....as you tell.....!!
I wish Viv was there though...
That fuckin guitarist, man. One of the best.
Awesome performance from everyone, including the sound engineers. When the bass is recorded and mixed correctly, it really adds intensity to the music. The energy from this show leaps across decades!
We saw DIO back in the day, I don't remember which tour but Accept was the opening band. That was a balls to the wall rockin show.
So EPIC...just WOW. Love this!! I am 52 years young and love this
Jimmy Bain was a beast. Wish I could pick like that.
RIP Dio
We miss you...
Thanks for making life full of color
Jimmy Bain on bass needs to be in the description! Played in Rainbow and Dio for years....
I was 22 and saw this show not long before or after this show. Amazing and still have the ticket stub and the shirt!! Metal concerts were such an event in the 80's, such a spectacular experience to behold. Nothing like the BS "music" of today. The 80's were my late teens and twenties. Such great times, the US was the best it has ever been. Never better. God's favorite decade without question. If you missed it, you truly did miss out on America and metal at its absolute gnikcuf best 🤘🍻
Tippy top of the MOUNTAIN, and still only halfway up!!! Rip DIO. We rocked hard together!
Today I star to paint my garage whith a couple of beer and I find this....man!!!! Volumen up!!!!
Not paining anything, just having a few beers and listening to this amazing concert, I've never seen before.
this is just so awesome. you don't see such stageshows today anymore. fighting a - fake as fuck, but who cares! - dragon. plus the outfits of course... and everyone gets their own five minutes. dio was the best
He was truly a musician, who understood what it was all about, the fans, the music, and the stage presence. He really gave it his all each and every night
i agree he was the best , every weekend i toast a beer to DIO...he was is the best.
"everyone gets their own five minutes. dio was the best" Except when it came to sharing the $$$.
Yeah..Now they just slap a few huge flat screen displays behind the performers. This was a an era thats gone forever
I went right to Heaven and Hell - bigass white BC Rich guitar! Fuck yeah. 🫠🤟

🖤 Dio
I was lucky enough to have seen Dio in concert twice.
Once with Sabbath and once on his Solo tour.
Rest In Peace Ronnie 🥲
The days when fans really enjoy a concert!!
Love this. When Dio went, I lost a part of my childhood. Same with EVH. Craig Goldie surprised me here. Didnt realise how great he was!. Big shout out to Viv Campbell though. I do believe he had a massive hand in making those first three albums as special as they were.
This was my venue growing up the Spectrum in South Philly. My 1st concert was in 1974 - Aerosmith ( Toys in the Attic ) tour with REO Speedwagon & Ted Nugent, great show I’ll never forget it. I saw Dio a couple of times with Black Sabbath he’s was awesome. Saw him at the Tower theater as well in Upper Darby . Rock on RJD, Rest In Peace my brother!
Same here. my first concert was at the Spectrum to see Kiss in 1979. been to the Tower too many times.
@@matttornetta9049 Yeah I miss the Spectrum it had great acoustics. I don’t hear many good rock concerts at the Tower anymore, maybe because all the 70’s band are dying off. I saw Asia’s 1st show of their 1st ever tour at the Tower it was awesome and I also saw Van Halen’s 1st ever concert at the Spectrum, they opened up for Black Sabbath and were cheered on for an encore and started replaying they’re same set list cause that’s all they had it was truly amazing.
I saw so many good shows at the Spectrum. I miss the place. I saw this show there. Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, Kiss, and so many more.

This one brings back memories for me. My friend had this on VHS and we used to watch it at his house when we were in high school. He passed away several years ago and I often think about the good times we had. RIP Brian...
He's in Valhalla with Ronnie now!

I was there in the 4th row floor. Great concert. I was senior in high school. Dio was the true king of rock and roll
Got to see them in the late 80’s and it’s still stands out in my mind .
Ronnie really cared to make his shows over the top so you’d never forget , for good reasons of course!
My first DIO concert was this tour and what an impression it left! Such a powerful show.

Awesome...my first DIO album was the best of Dio, i bought it on my birthday..30 years ago, i still have it...44 this year...my first 3 was Metallica Kill em all, Ride the lightning and Slayer... Live Undead...cheers mate...
I am a fan of Viv Campbell when he was in DIO. But I have to be honest here. Craig Goldie was in his element here and I can say that Craig was just as good as Viv at that point of time. Craig was on point and when I first heard this concert many years ago, I thought it was Viv playing! RIP Dio. Love, from Singapore!
For sure.....we all played guitar back in those days and were super critical after Craig replaced Viv. And he didn't disappoint live. I've seen them both since '83. Craig is an absolute monster on guitar.
@@FreeMTrider You were lucky my friend! I was not able to watch both of them live with Dio. But saw Dio eventually w Heaven and Hell once in Singapore.

Ronnie was SPECTACULAR and it's damn shame so many younguns only know Vivian Campbell as the guitarist in Def Leppard who wears a shirt. 😂 I'm sure Craig is great but seeing Dio with VC was next level.
