for the first time I have to say, there are some things I liked better befor...for instance that room with the fireplace ...the sofa couch was perfect the other way around lentgth wise.
@@divinesignatures6225probably sun glare on tv the 1st way. Remove the tv and put the sofa facing the backyard...however they have a more formal room like that, do they need 2 side by side?
Yeah is a no for me, Hilary is great but I don’t think mid century is here forte. The kitchen doesn’t feel mid century, that backsplash looks like a after thought, she should have gone with a full teal backsplash , the use of bold colors (like the orange entry door) is something characteristic of the mid century modern style. I did like the configuration of the original sofa but the way Hilary did it makes more sense if it’s going to be a tv centric room
Designers never fully commit to 'mid century modern' but at least the kitchen was not fake "Shaker" cabinetry. My choice would have been something retro and wipe clean, wallpaper that echoed the era of the house.
The fridge is as far as ;possible from the sink. Somebody is going to get really annoyed after a while. The original kitchen looked fine. Also, now the couch is facing sideways from the fabulous outdoor view. And the blue wall tiles in the kitchen would drive me crazy. This was not one of HIlary's best.
The lady did not like the kitchen, (it was to much white) I think that was the only reason for changing it. I do like the new backsplash! Very different, and taken with the customers admiration of that type of tile for a backsplash, I’d say it was a good choice on Hilary’s part.
23 weeks just stuns me! And no fireplace? Why not switch to gas or electric logs? This reno is largely a big waste of a lot of time and money. I even dislike the black sink, will show every speck of dirt and water marks. I agree with nearly all the other comments, really a disappointment.
When she said the kitchen wasn't functional, I thought she was referring to the island in the middle of the kitchen "triangle" blocking the fridge from the sink and stove. But apparently not, because there is now an even bigger island to walk around to get to the fridge.
I like it, especially that she kept the integrity and feel of the home. I don't care for some of the tile but that's ok. I think the sofa facing the tv is good, because it would be hard to watch tv with the afternoon light coming in behind it. Unless they watch it at night, but then they probably wouldn't be looking outside at night anyway. I'd have kept a fireplace, like a midcentury one.
Totally nailed the mid century modern aesthetic of the home, which understandably, is not everyone’s (or my) cup of tea. I love the consistency of style and all the pops of colour. The client’s excitement says it all!
I liked the pops of colour too. I was tired of seeing white & grey in Hillary's designs. I get why most ppl like it but I'm glad that this client liked colour.
Not sure why everyone's complaining! Love the changes, gives a lot of personality to the sophistication of the architecture and the flow and function is greatly improved!
Owner walks into the the original huge kitchen with a beautiful island: "The functionality for me, is not there". WTH? Such a first world "problem". It was perfectly fine. The blue tiles were a turn off. Nice touches like the black sink, pot filler, and drawer microwave, but not a win, in my opinion.
I fear the tiles in the kitchen and bathroom won't age well. They are very busy and they might get tired of them after a while. And shudder when I look at all those sharp cornered handles in the kitchen! My thighs would be blue and just imagine if a toddler walks into that kitchen. I like that style of handle but they make the same ones with rounded corners. Even the cloakroom handles have sharp corners but that is less of a problem asI think there's less possibility of bumping into them.
No no no! It looks like the fridge is across the room meaning that you have to walk around the massive island to get to it. Am I seeing the layout wrong?
🤔🤔 I don't like where the fridge is. Inconvenient, I think opening it up more. I don't see the point in 2 sitting rooms. Pool table maybe. The rest is fine❤
23 weeks for what? And I won't even ask what they spent! I have always loved what Hillary does but I guess no one is infallible, this for me was an epic fail. The kitchen backsplash, getting rid of the fireplace, the bathroom is not mod and all she did was re-use over half the owner's furnishings and paint everything white when anyone who knows MCM that it's all about the major color blocking. So disappointed that I even watched this seeing that I liked the house for the most part better before.
What a GORGEOUS home what a beautiful light! Love the MCM vibe. However, I m not fond of the teal tile in the kitchen or the funky tile in the bathroom....sorry. I want something designed to stand the test of time.
Well I don't know why everything in theses days needs to be so white a house should still be cozy. The big white sofa was better placed before but it made space for a nice dining area. I would always keep a fireplace. Just my personal opinion it makes for a warm atmosphere.
9:26-9:29 They're going to move their bed back right away. You could tell they watch tv in bed as most people do. The way hilary put the bed and the t.v makes it impossible to watch ever. I see this A LOT on design shows.
The fridge is too far from the oven… Where is the function in this kitchen? What a ugly pattern tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. This dining table in super small and not proportional to the size of the room/house.
@4:09, insofar as there needs to be a rug, the original one was much better than the white, fluffy STUPIDITY. Hilary Farr should have gone for something that contained the red-orange and brown zones. Ditto for the new sofa that now barely seats two. @5:30, does this woman know nothing about staging? The bar cart should be moved over so that it hides the ugly access panel, while at the same time freeing the electrical outlet. I was prepared to HATE the kitchen, but I mostly like it, especially the modern slab doors and drawer fronts - don't like the wall tiling and the fridge/freezer should be "counter depth" instead of a jutting behemoth. @8:31, at last, tiles that are actually not the usual HGTV special. @9:05, that gap is going to allow run-off to dribble down the side of the countertop. @9:25, that is a HUGE television and in the bedroom, too. Really?

The back of that beautiful sofa blocked the fireplace
There wasn’t room for a proper dining area so changing it improved the homes function.
Yeah, that felt awkward having the sofa not facing the windows.

i don't like the kitchen or bathroom tiles personally, but THE HOUSE IS GORGEOUS!! And Hillary did a great job updating the functionality by 100
Hilary always does a great job. I love what she did with this home. Love it!!!
the fireplace should have stayed the big sofa actually looked out to the viw. The back splash is terrible. I am really disappointed with this redo.
Exactly my thoughts.
Agreed. It has a confusing message. As well as the shower tile. Not welcoming at all.
Read my mind 😂
Not that appealing.
Designed for a specific person definitely 👍
@@nanaman: you mean Hillary Farr actually listened to the clients instead of imposing her style on them? 😂😂😂
One of her and her team's best project. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Super love the teal tiles in the back splash.

Agree with you!
Yes Contemporary design is more hilarys strength.

I dont like the backsplash at all. It is too busy and patterned. The island is better

Are they KIDDING? That house was fine! It needed nothing!
When she said the kitchen wasn't functional, I thought she was referring to the island in the middle of the kitchen "triangle" blocking the fridge from the sink and stove. But apparently not, because there is now an even bigger island to walk around to get to the fridge.
Hmm, Interesting. I generally love Hillary's designs, but I don't think I care much for this one.

This is absolutely stunning! Forget the naysayers. I love it.
There was nothing wrong that paint couldn't improve.

That reno is outstanding 👏 love everything especially the kitchen 😍 ❤❤

Don't like the kitchen blue tile-- should have been solid color.
But love the bathroom tile❤

Sink, dishwasher & window?! What happened 😂
Love the kitchen

I love her😆❤️

I usually love Hilarys renos but really dislike this!!!
I'm not fan of the backsplash
My biggest dream is to see Hilary Far design my house ( God make my dreams comes true)❤
The shower has no glass panel/ door? waters gonna get everywhere !
Думаю, что фартук надоест хозяевам через пару дней. Очень рябит в глазах от него через несколько секунд просмотра
😊❤👌
Beautiful but it needs color. All white and black is very cold
Tbh better before...
That bathroom is going to get dated, super quick.
Wow! What a great way to ruin a house. Super super basic and boring. Looks like in was made by an amateur
Not feeling this design by Hillary
Kitchen isn't functional. Liked of original rooms before.
im not wowed, sorry but its ok for me
I don't like it. Very boring.
