100% agree, BUT I think the idea is, they are flavored in such a way (Not just more salt I think) so you can add 'bland' carbs, like rice, pasta, instant mashed potato, or similar. That way you still have a tasty meal that can go a lot further (be more filling) than it is on its own. I suggest trying one again, buying some cheap instant mashed potato from the supermarket (good for around 6 meals solo - or 3 meals for two). I think this will really improve the experience. You guys are giving me great ideas for another camp food video :)😃👍💖
Yeah, my mates and I usually carried those cheap Mac n Cheese meals and similar, when we were kids. I don't like them personally, BUT they are an excellent option if you do. - Thanks for pointing that out. Maybe I should do a larger comparison, or just an expose' on great camping foods :)😀👍
Possibly - slightly more. But I'm mainly looking at energy, packability, weight, and value for money - and I like the taste. I also really like some of the "Back Country Cuisine" meals and generally carry both. Usually, you are only away for a few days at most, so I don't think the nutritional value is as much of a concern :) Another delicious, packable, inexpensive (But not super light/ although you don't need to add any water - so weight is probably deceptive) meal is MTR meals (Not sure if you can get them in Oz - but they are worth a look) mtrfoods.co.nz/
@@MVDBR You'll have some kind of 2-minute noodles - almost certainly the Maggie ones - I like the Indo-mei ones because they're spicy - If you don't have them in your supermarket - they'll be in your local Chinese ethnic store.
@@MVDBR Yeah, that was an NZ link - I'd be surprised if they only sell in NZ. Anyway, if you find those MTRs they are definitely worth a crack. All vegetarian meals, but so blimmin tasty. Loved the new vid (Watched on Patreon) your usual great content :)
Noodles is a good option , found that the freeze dried stuff was way too salty. Thanks for the review.

@@peterdawson7775 Thanks heaps for that feedback. It is HUGELY appreciated.
No doubt about there is a time and place for both...add those cheap dried pasta meals also👍 Big difference in salt between the two.

Cool video fellas, surely tho the backcountry crud would have slightly higher nutritional value? But yeah nah maybe not 🤷🏻😁
